Medical Examination Light

Description

The HEINE EL3 LED Examination Light - Wall Mount is a high-quality, wall-mounted medical examination luminaire that delivers bright, homogeneous, shadow-free illumination exactly at the point of interest. Using HEINE’s LED HQ technology, it provides >42,000 lux (>350 lumen) at a 30 cm working distance with a 5,000 K colour temperature, high colour rendering index (CRI >90) and strong red colour rendering (R9 >80). The compact Ø ~60 mm Cool-Touch closed head and stable goose neck allow precise, effortless positioning, while the sealed, maintenance-free design supports easy cleaning and disinfection. Designed and manufactured in Germany under strict medical-device quality standards, the EL3 LED offers a durable, reliable lighting solution for general practice, outpatient clinics, minor procedures, dermatology and aesthetic treatments.

Bnefits

  • High-intensity illumination of >42,000 lux (>350 lumen) at 30 cm for excellent visibility of fine anatomical details.
  • LED HQ technology with 5,000 K colour temperature and CRI >90 for natural tissue colour reproduction and accurate diagnosis.
  • Enhanced red colour rendering (R9 >80) to better visualise vasculature, erythema and other red structures.
  • Compact ~60 mm head and flexible goose neck enable precise, shadow-free positioning even in difficult examination situations.
  • Cool-Touch closed head design remains comfortable to handle and allows safe, simple disinfection.
  • Maintenance-free LED module with an expected working life of up to 30,000 hours, reducing downtime and bulb replacement costs.
  • Wall-mount configuration saves floor space and keeps the examination area uncluttered, with alternative desk and mobile stand options available.
  • Smooth surfaces and enclosed design minimise dirt traps and support infection-control protocols in clinical environments.
  • 5-year manufacturer’s guarantee, reflecting robust construction and long-term reliability.
  • Designed for multi-specialty use, including general medicine, ENT, dermatology and aesthetic procedures requiring consistent, high-quality light.

Indications

Usage

  • Have the unit installed and wall mounted by a suitably competent person, following HEINE’s installation instructions and local facility regulations.
  • Before first use, inspect the light, gooseneck and wall fixing for any transport damage or loose fittings; do not use if damaged.
  • Connect the luminaire to the specified mains power supply according to the instructions for use, ensuring any transformers or power units are correctly configured.
  • Switch the examination light on using the designated control and allow the LED to reach stable brightness (essentially immediate).
  • Grip the Cool-Touch lamp head or goose neck and position the light so that the beam falls directly and centrally on the examination field at the recommended working distance (~30 cm).
  • Use the flexible goose neck for fine adjustments, avoiding excessive force that could damage the arm or wall fixing.
  • After the examination or procedure, switch the light off using the control provided.
  • Clean and disinfect the closed head and exposed surfaces with suitable, manufacturer-approved disinfectant wipes or solutions, following HEINE’s reprocessing guidance.
  • Perform regular visual checks of the wall mount, gooseneck and cable routing to ensure continued safe operation and stability.
  • Do not open the lamp head or attempt to replace the LED module; the LED is designed to last for the lifetime of the product and requires no user maintenance.

Contraindications

  • Not intended for use as the sole light source in operating theatres or for major surgical procedures that require dedicated surgical luminaires.
  • Not designed or certified for use in explosive or highly flammable atmospheres (e.g., certain operating environments with anaesthetic gases unless specifically assessed).
  • Must not be used if the housing, gooseneck, wall mounting or power cable is visibly damaged, loose or compromised.
  • Do not use in direct contact with patients or invasive devices; the luminaire is for illumination only.
  • Use according to local electrical-safety regulations; unsuitable for environments that do not meet the specified electrical installation requirements.

Adverse Effects

  • Improper positioning or excessive brightness at very close distances may cause temporary visual discomfort or glare for the patient or clinician.
  • If not correctly installed or securely wall-mounted, there is a risk of mechanical instability or falling equipment, potentially causing injury or damage.
  • Inadequate cleaning or disinfection between patients may contribute to cross-contamination or infection risk.
  • Prolonged viewing of the LED light source at close range could cause eye strain; users should avoid staring directly into the beam.

Storage Conditions

  • When not in daily use (e.g., during refurbishment or relocation), store the examination light in a clean, dry indoor environment.
  • Protect the light from excessive dust, moisture, direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid mechanical shocks, such as dropping or striking the lamp head or gooseneck against hard surfaces.
  • If stored before installation, keep the unit in its original packaging to protect components and fixtures.
  • Ensure power is disconnected if the device is taken out of service for extended periods.

Duration

Used intermittently for the duration of each examination or minor procedure and switched off afterwards; designed for repeated long-term clinical use over many years within its LED service life.

Onset

Provides full, bright illumination immediately upon switch-on, with no warm-up time required.
