- Connect the couch to a suitable mains power supply as specified in the user manual and verify that electric height adjustment operates smoothly before clinical use.
- Use the hand or foot control (depending on configuration) to adjust the couch height between approximately 52 cm and 101 cm to achieve a safe working height for each procedure.
- Position the three sections appropriately: use the 90° drop-end foot section to convert to a seated position, and adjust the back and mid sections for optimal patient comfort and access.
- When using mobile hoists, take advantage of the 130 mm hoist clearance and follow local moving and handling policies and hoist manufacturer instructions.
- Ensure retractable castors are in the locked position when the couch is in use and only release them when moving or repositioning the couch.
- Use the breathing hole for prone positioning when appropriate; fit or remove plugs and paper rolls as needed to maintain comfort and hygiene.
- Clean vinyl upholstery and accessible frame surfaces between patients with suitable detergents/disinfectants recommended for healthcare vinyl, following infection-control protocols.
- Perform regular safety checks for frame integrity, upholstery condition, electric cables, controls and castors; arrange servicing or repair through Plinth Medical or authorised service agents if any defects are identified.

- Do not operate the couch if there is visible damage to the frame, upholstery, electrics, controls or castors.
- Not suitable for use in environments that exceed the electrical or environmental specifications in the manufacturer’s instructions (e.g., specific high-risk or wet environments) unless explicitly approved.
- Use caution when tilting or adjusting sections with patients who have significant mobility limitations, balance issues or medical conditions where sudden position changes may be unsafe; ensure adequate support and supervision at all times.
Adverse Effects
- If the couch is incorrectly positioned, overloaded or used with castors unlocked, there is a risk of unintended movement or instability, potentially causing injury.
- Inadequate cleaning or damage to upholstery may increase infection-control risks or cause discomfort to patients.
- Rapid or unexpected position changes may cause dizziness or discomfort in susceptible patients; adjustments should be made smoothly and with appropriate clinical judgement.
Storage Conditions
- Keep installed in a dry, indoor clinical environment; avoid exposure to excessive moisture or water ingress.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high heat sources that may degrade vinyl upholstery or electrical components.
- Disconnect from the mains supply if the couch will not be used for extended periods and ensure the power cable is routed to avoid trip or damage hazards.
- Do not store heavy items on the couch surface when not in use; keep the area around the base clear to protect castors and hoist access.
Duration
Not applicable as a therapeutic parameter; the couch is used for the duration of examinations or procedures as determined by the clinician.
