Wireless LED examination headlight \u2013 headband version
Description
The ri-focus LED examination headlight is a wireless, high-performance medical headlamp developed and manufactured in Germany. Designed as a comfortable, infinitely adjustable headband with integrated battery compartment, it delivers bright, cold, white LED light directly in the line of sight, providing optimal illumination of the examination and minor procedure field with minimal heat and low energy consumption. The focusable LED beam can be continuously adjusted from a small, concentrated spot to a wider field (approximately 40–200 mm diameter at 400 mm distance), allowing precise visualisation of structures and colour nuances. The balanced headband with removable, washable padding ensures high wearer comfort during prolonged use, and the integrated ON/OFF switch and charge jack in the battery compartment enable fully cable-free operation during examinations and easy recharging when used with NiMH rechargeable batteries and plug-in charger.

Packaging
- Headband version ri-focus LED examination headlight with integrated battery compartment.
- Supplied configured for use with designated battery type depending on specific model (e.g. CR123A set or AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries and plug-in charger for 230 V or 120 V, model-dependent).
- May include plug-in charger (230 V or 120 V) with NiMH version, as specified by variant.
- Packed in protective box with foam or cardboard inserts to secure headband and lamp during transport.
- Outer packaging labelled with product name (ri-focus LED examination headlight), relevant article number (e.g. 6090/6091/6092 by configuration), manufacturer details, electrical specifications and regulatory marks.
Usage
- Before first use, read the full user manual supplied by the manufacturer and familiarise yourself with all safety instructions.
- Open the battery compartment integrated in the headband and insert the appropriate batteries according to the chosen configuration: 2 x CR123A lithium, 4 x AAA alkaline or 4 x AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment securely and ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position before placing the headband on the head.
- Adjust the headband diameter using the infinitely adjustable mechanism until it fits comfortably and securely around the head; ensure the inner padding rests evenly for optimal comfort.
- Position the lamp head so that the beam aligns with your line of sight; adjust the arm and angle as required.
- Switch the headlight ON using the switch on the battery compartment and adjust the diameter of the illuminated field by turning the focusing device on the lamp head to the desired beam size.
- Aim the light at the examination field, maintaining an appropriate working distance (typically around 400 mm) to achieve the desired brightness and field size.
- After use, switch OFF the headlight to conserve battery life. Remove the headband and, if needed, wipe the outer surfaces with an approved disinfectant. The inner padding can be removed and washed in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Recharge NiMH batteries using the supplied plug-in charger (230 V or 120 V as applicable) via the integrated charge jack on the battery compartment, following the charger’s instructions for safe charging.
- Periodically inspect the device for damage, wear or loose components and do not use the headlight if any defect that could affect safety or performance is found; arrange service or replacement through an authorised dealer.
Contraindications
- Not intended for use in environments with flammable anaesthetic mixtures or potentially explosive atmospheres unless explicitly approved in the product documentation.
- Do not use if the housing, headband, wiring or battery compartment is visibly damaged, deformed or shows signs of overheating.
- Use with caution in patients with extreme light sensitivity; avoid prolonged direct exposure of the eyes to high-intensity light.
- Do not operate the device with incompatible or damaged batteries, or with batteries that show leakage or corrosion.
Adverse Effects
- Possible temporary visual discomfort or glare if the beam is directed into the eyes at short distance or high intensity.
- Localised sensation of warmth on the skin when the beam is held very close for extended periods, although LED design minimises heat.
- Head discomfort or fatigue if the headband is not correctly adjusted or worn for very long periods without breaks.
- In rare cases, skin irritation or pressure marks from the headband if not adjusted or padded appropriately.
Storage Conditions
- Store the headlight in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, excessive heat or moisture when not in use.
- Recommended storage temperature typically between -5 °C and 50 °C, with relative humidity between 10% and 85% non-condensing (per typical device specifications).
- Switch off the device before storage and, if stored for long periods, remove batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
- Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the headlight or bending the arm in a way that could damage mechanical components.
- Keep out of reach of children and untrained users.
Duration
Not applicable as a therapeutic device; can be used continuously for the duration of examinations or minor procedures within the limits of battery runtime (approximately 4 hours with CR123A lithium batteries or around 90 minutes with AAA alkaline or AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, depending on usage and battery condition).
Onset
Provides full illumination immediately upon switching on the LED and adjusting focus and alignment.
