Oral weight loss aid (orlistat 60 mg, OTC)
Description
Alli Weight Loss Refill Pack (120 Capsules) is an over-the-counter weight loss aid containing orlistat 60 mg per capsule. It is designed for overweight adults (BMI ≥ 25) who are already following a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet. Alli works locally in the digestive tract by blocking about 25% of the fat from the food eaten so that it is not absorbed and is instead excreted. This refill pack provides up to 40 days’ supply and is intended for people who have already purchased the starter pack with the full programme information.
Bnefits
- Clinically proven, FDA-approved non-prescription weight loss aid for adults.
- Helps block about 25% of dietary fat from being absorbed by the body.
- Can help you lose 2–3 pounds more for every 5 pounds lost through diet and exercise alone.
- Acts locally in the digestive tract with minimal systemic absorption, so has little to no direct effect on the cardiovascular or central nervous systems.
- Supports long-term weight management when combined with a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet and increased physical activity.
- Refill pack is convenient for ongoing users, providing up to 40 days of therapy (120 capsules).
Indications
- Weight loss aid for overweight adults (18 years and older) with BMI ≥ 25 kg/m².
- Use in conjunction with a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet and exercise programme.
- Intended for individuals who have already started an Alli programme and need a refill (not a starter pack).
Composition
- Active ingredient: Orlistat 60 mg per hard capsule.
- Typical excipients (may vary by market): microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, povidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, capsule shell (gelatin, titanium dioxide, dyes), printing ink and other standard pharmaceutical excipients.
Formulation
- Oral hard capsules containing 60 mg orlistat.
- Non-prescription strength formulation designed for OTC weight loss support.
- Capsules intended to be swallowed whole with water.
Packaging
- Refill pack containing 120 hard capsules (60 mg orlistat each).
- Includes a "Read Me First" or programme/brochure leaflet with usage guidance.
- Pack size designed to provide up to 40 days of treatment when taken as directed (3 capsules per day).
Usage
- For overweight adults 18 years and older only.
- Take one 60 mg capsule with each fat-containing main meal (up to three times per day).
- Swallow capsule whole with water; take during the meal or up to one hour after the meal.
- Do not take more than three capsules in 24 hours.
- Use only with a nutritionally balanced, reduced-calorie diet that contains approximately 30% of calories from fat; distribute daily fat intake across three main meals.
- If a meal is missed or contains no fat, skip the dose for that meal.
- Take a daily multivitamin containing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K at least 2 hours after the last dose of the day (often at bedtime) to help maintain adequate vitamin levels.
- Consult a healthcare professional before starting Alli, especially if taking other medicines or if you have underlying medical conditions.
- Do not use for more than 6 months OTC without medical review; if you have not lost at least 5% of your body weight after 3 months, speak to a healthcare professional about continuing or stopping treatment.
Contraindications

- Gastrointestinal effects related to unabsorbed fat: oily spotting or discharge from the anus, gas with oily discharge, oily or fatty stools, increased number of bowel movements, urgent or hard-to-control bowel movements.
- Abdominal pain or discomfort, stomach upset, flatulence, loose stools.
- Possible decreased absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) if multivitamin not taken as recommended.
- Less common: headache, back pain, upper respiratory symptoms, menstrual changes.
- Rare but serious: severe abdominal pain or symptoms that may suggest liver injury (e.g. itching, dark urine, yellowing of skin/eyes); such symptoms require prompt medical evaluation.

Duration
Most weight loss occurs in the first 3\u20136 months. Over-the-counter use is generally recommended for up to 6 months; if at least 5% weight loss has not been achieved after 3 months of combined diet, exercise and Alli use, continued treatment may be of limited benefit.
Onset
Begins to act with the first dose; measurable weight loss is typically observed over several weeks when combined with diet and exercise.
