Topical emollient hydrating gel

Description

Doublebase Dayleve (Hydrating Gel) 500g is a long-lasting, highly emollient and protective hydrating gel for regular first-line treatment and prophylaxis of dry or chapped skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, elderly dry or pruritic skin and other dermatitis. The gel combines isopropyl myristate 15% w/w and liquid paraffin 15% w/w with a high level of glycerol and the film-forming agent povidone to soften, moisturise and protect the skin, trapping moisture and restoring the barrier while remaining easily absorbed and non-greasy. It is steroid-free and free from SLS, parabens, MI preservatives, colourings and fragrances, and may be used as an adjunct to other topical treatments.

Bnefits

  • Provides long-lasting, highly moisturising and protective hydration for dry or chapped skin.
  • Contains 30% oils (isopropyl myristate 15% w/w and liquid paraffin 15% w/w) to soften and protect the skin barrier.
  • High level of glycerol (humectant) and povidone (film-forming agent) helps attract, hold and lock water and oils into the skin for prolonged effect.
  • Designed to offer effective moisturisation with as little as twice-daily application (morning and night), supporting adherence to treatment.
  • Non-greasy, easily absorbed gel despite high oil content, improving cosmetic acceptability and comfort.
  • Steroid-free emollient suitable for long-term use and for patients wishing to minimise topical corticosteroid exposure.
  • Free from SLS, parabens, MI preservatives, colourings and fragrances, making it suitable for sensitive and delicate skin.
  • Can be used by all age groups, from babies to the elderly, for a wide range of dry skin conditions.
  • Can be used as an adjunct to other topical therapies, helping to enhance overall management of chronic dry or eczematous skin.
  • Helps protect skin from drying effects of soaps, detergents and environmental irritants when used before and after washing.

Indications

  • Long-lasting, highly moisturising and protective hydrating gel for regular first-line treatment and prophylaxis of dry or chapped skin conditions.

  • Adjunctive therapy alongside other topical treatments (e.g. topical corticosteroids) in dermatological care.

Usage

  • For external use on the skin only.
  • Apply Doublebase Dayleve Gel to the affected areas of dry or chapped skin morning and night, or as often as necessary, for maximum benefit.
  • Use a few gentle strokes to smooth the gel across the skin in the same direction as hair growth (like stroking a cat or dog); avoid vigorous rubbing.
  • Allow time for any excess gel to soak into the skin; wipe off only if necessary.
  • The product can also be used before and after washing, showering or bathing to help condition the skin and prevent further drying.
  • If applying another topical treatment to the same area, avoid mixing products directly on the skin by applying them alternately and allowing sufficient time for each to be absorbed.
  • After using the 500 g pump bottle, turn the top of the pump clockwise to lock it; for tubes, replace the cap after use.
  • Occasionally, a small pocket of air may form around the bottom of the pump dip tube in the 500 g bottle; this can be resolved by tapping the base firmly on a hard surface two or three times and then pumping slowly.
  • Use regularly as part of an emollient regimen for chronic dry skin conditions, as advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Always read the package leaflet and follow any additional directions provided by your prescriber or pharmacist.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to isopropyl myristate, liquid paraffin or any of the listed excipients (glycerol, povidone, carbomer, sorbitan laurate, triethanolamine, phenoxyethanol or purified water).
  • Discontinue use if signs of local skin reaction such as increased irritation, redness or rash occur and seek medical advice.
  • As with other paraffin-based emollients, users should not smoke or go near naked flames when product is applied to skin or present on clothing or bedding, due to the risk of severe burns.
  • Fabric such as clothing, bedding or dressings in contact with this product may present an increased fire hazard; frequent changing and washing may reduce but not completely remove product build-up.
  • Avoid application to acutely infected or severely broken skin unless directed by a healthcare professional.

Adverse Effects

  • Rare local skin reactions such as redness, rash, burning, itching, stinging or irritation at the application site.
  • In the event of a hypersensitivity reaction, symptoms may include worsening of inflammation or discomfort; treatment should be stopped and medical advice sought.
  • Paraffin build-up on clothing, dressings or bedding may significantly increase flammability and risk of serious burns if exposed to naked flames or smoking materials.
  • If too much gel is applied, the skin may feel greasy; excess can be gently wiped off without harm.

Storage Conditions

  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not store above 25°C.
  • Do not freeze the product.
  • Do not use Doublebase Dayleve Gel after the expiry date shown on the container; the expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • After using the 500 g pump bottle, turn the pump top clockwise to lock it; for tubes, replace the cap after use.
  • If an air pocket forms in the 500 g pump bottle, tap the base firmly on a hard surface two or three times and then pump slowly to re-establish normal dispensing.
  • Store in the original container with the closure tightly in place to protect from contamination and drying.

Duration

Intended for regular, long-term and prophylactic use in chronic dry or chapped skin conditions; may be used continuously as long as needed or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Onset

Softening and moisturising effects are typically noticed soon after application, with long-lasting hydration and protective benefits lasting for many hours (up to approximately 12 hours of protection reported with regular twice-daily use).
