Usage

Use only with a nutritionally balanced, reduced-calorie diet that contains approximately 30% of calories from fat; distribute daily fat intake across three main meals.
If a meal is missed or contains no fat, skip the dose for that meal.
Take a daily multivitamin containing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K at least 2 hours after the last dose of the day (often at bedtime) to help maintain adequate vitamin levels.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Age under 18 years.
Patients who are not overweight (BMI < 25 kg/m²).
History of organ transplant or current use of medicines to prevent transplant rejection.
Concomitant use of cyclosporine.
Chronic malabsorption syndrome or problems absorbing food.
Cholestasis (a condition affecting bile flow).

Adverse Effects

Gastrointestinal effects related to unabsorbed fat: oily spotting or discharge from the anus, gas with oily discharge, oily or fatty stools, increased number of bowel movements, urgent or hard-to-control bowel movements.
Abdominal pain or discomfort, stomach upset, flatulence, loose stools.
Possible decreased absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) if multivitamin not taken as recommended.
Less common: headache, back pain, upper respiratory symptoms, menstrual changes.
Rare but serious: severe abdominal pain or symptoms that may suggest liver injury (e.g. itching, dark urine, yellowing of skin/eyes); such symptoms require prompt medical evaluation.

Storage Conditions

Store at room temperature (typically around 20–25 °C); protect from excessive heat and humidity.
Keep capsules in the original container or blister pack until use to protect from moisture.
Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Duration

Most weight loss occurs in the first 3\u20136 months. Over-the-counter use is generally recommended for up to 6 months; if at least 5% weight loss has not been achieved after 3 months of combined diet, exercise and Alli use, continued treatment may be of limited benefit.
