Mobile stand base for examination lamps
Description
The 5 Castor Mobile Base for the Provita Lamp Range (SKU SU551) is a fixed-height mobile stand base designed to support compatible Provita examination lamps. It features a five-leg chrome-plated steel base with twin castors, providing a stable yet highly manoeuvrable platform. The stand accepts lamp poles or tubes with an outer diameter of 25 mm and includes a central mounting hole of approximately 18 mm. With an approximate base diameter of 635 mm and a total weight of about 5.5 kg, it offers a low centre of gravity and smooth movement for safe positioning of examination lighting in clinical environments.
Bnefits
- Provides a stable five-leg base for Provita examination lamps, helping to reduce tipping risk during adjustment.
- Mobile design with 5 x 50 mm twin castors allows easy repositioning of the lamp around the patient or treatment area.
- Fixed-height construction ensures predictable lamp position relative to the pole and light head for consistent use.
- Chrome-plated tube and base components offer a durable, easy-to-clean surface suitable for clinical settings.
- Base diameter of approximately 635 mm gives a wide footprint for enhanced stability without excessive space requirements.
- Weight of approximately 5.5 kg contributes to a low centre of gravity, improving stand stability while remaining easy to move.
- Compatible tube diameter of 25 mm and hole diameter of around 18 mm provides standardised mounting for Provita lamp poles.
- Twin castors help distribute load and offer smooth rolling performance on typical healthcare flooring.
Indications
- Intended for use as a mobile base for compatible Provita examination lamps in outpatient, ward, theatre and clinic environments.
- Suitable wherever examination lighting is required to be frequently repositioned around a patient or procedure area.
- Designed as an equipment furniture accessory to support lamp poles with 25 mm tube diameter and 18 mm spigot/hole interface.
Composition
- Five-leg mobile base constructed primarily from chrome-plated steel or similar metal for strength and durability.
- Central tube interface designed for 25 mm diameter tubes with an 18 mm mounting hole location.
- Five twin castors (approx. 50 mm diameter) for mobility.
- Fasteners and fittings for securing the lamp pole to the base.
Formulation
- Non-sterile, reusable mobile lamp stand base with fixed height, designed as medical furniture/equipment accessory.
- Mechanical device with no electrical, pharmacological, immunological or metabolic action.
Packaging
- Supplied as a single 5-castor mobile base unit (1 piece) per pack.
- Packed in protective shipping packaging suitable to prevent damage to chrome surfaces and castors during transport.
- Labelled with product name, brand, SKU (SU551) and distributor information where applicable.
Usage
- Unpack the base carefully and inspect for any transport damage to the castors, legs or central tube interface before use.
- If supplied separately from the lamp pole, attach the compatible Provita lamp stand or tube (25 mm diameter) into the base mounting interface according to the lamp manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure the 18 mm mounting hole/spigot connection is fully seated and any locking screws or clamps are securely tightened before placing the lamp into service.
- Position the mobile base on a level floor surface and verify that all five castors roll freely and sit evenly on the floor.
- Move the lamp by grasping the pole or dedicated handle and rolling the base; avoid dragging or lifting the stand by the lamp head to prevent mechanical stress.
- Do not overload the stand with accessories or devices beyond what is specified by the lamp/stand manufacturer.
- Clean the chrome surfaces and castors regularly according to local infection prevention and equipment-care policies using compatible cleaning agents.
- Periodically inspect castors, fixings and the central tube interface for wear, looseness or damage; replace worn components or the entire base if stability is compromised.
Contraindications
- Not intended for use with lamp poles or devices that are incompatible with the specified 25 mm tube diameter or 18 mm mounting interface.
- Not suitable for use on highly uneven or heavily sloped floor surfaces where stand stability cannot be ensured.
- Should not be used if any leg, castor or the central mounting interface is visibly damaged, bent or loose.
Adverse Effects
- No direct patient adverse effects are expected when used as intended as furniture/equipment.
- Risk of lamp tipping or falling if the base is used on uneven surfaces, overloaded, or if the lamp is adjusted aggressively.
- Potential for staff or patient trips if the base is left in walkways or if cables associated with the lamp are not managed appropriately.
- Possible floor marking or minor damage from castors on delicate floor finishes if not compatible.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment when not in use, preferably indoors within normal room temperature ranges.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, corrosive chemicals or cleaning agents that are not approved for chrome-plated metal.
- Do not stack heavy items on top of the base that could deform the legs or castors.
- If stored for extended periods, check castor function and fixation points before returning to service.
Duration
Used continuously as long as the associated Provita lamp is in service; service life depends on frequency of use, maintenance and wear. Replace the base if structural integrity, stability or castor function are compromised.
Onset
Provides immediately stable, mobile support for the lamp once assembled and placed on a suitable floor surface.
