Description

The Qlicksmart SnapIT Ampoule Opener - Trolley Regular - Black is a reusable, anodised aluminium ampoule opener designed to safely open scored glass ampoules and reduce sharps and needlestick injuries. The Trolley Edition features a flat side so it can sit securely on a bench or medication trolley without rolling, and the Regular size is compatible with common ampoule volumes from 1–2 mL, 5–10 mL and 10–15 mL. A quick “insert and snap” lever action securely holds the ampoule lid inside the device, allowing it to be ejected directly into a sharps container, minimising the risk of cuts, contamination and medication loss.

Usage

Verify that the SnapIT Trolley Regular model is compatible with the ampoule size and neck geometry; do not force the ampoule if it does not easily fit.
If the glass ampoule is scored with a dot, align the dot on the ampoule with the dot on the SnapIT body.
Insert the entire ampoule lid (top of the ampoule above the score line) into the opening of the SnapIT until it locks at the neck.
While holding the ampoule body with your free hand, lever the SnapIT away from your body (and away from the dot) in a smooth motion to snap the lid off.
Ensure the glass lid remains captured inside the SnapIT device after snapping.
Position the SnapIT opening over an appropriate sharps container.
Press down on the internal rod or key mechanism to eject the captured ampoule lid directly into the sharps bin without touching it.
Inspect the open ampoule for any visible glass fragments before withdrawing medication, following local protocols.
Clean the SnapIT regularly according to institutional procedures: disassemble by removing the keyring and O-ring, wash with water and a suitable medical-grade cleaner, rinse, dry thoroughly and reassemble.
If a “bad” ampoule shatters inside the device, tap the SnapIT gently over a sharps bin to remove excess glass, then rinse and clean before next use; replace the O-ring if damaged.

Contraindications

Do not use with non-scored glass ampoules; the device is designed for scored ampoules only.
Do not use if the ampoule does not easily fit into the SnapIT opening or if the ampoule neck geometry is incompatible; forcing the ampoule may cause breakage and injury.
Do not use on damaged, cracked or previously compromised ampoules.
