Description

The Brandon Med-Rail 1m Rail Kit (code CAR14443) is a wall-mounted rail accessory designed specifically for the Brandon Coolview range of rail-mounted examination lights. The kit provides a 1-metre length of medical rail that allows Coolview rail-mounted luminaires, such as selected CLED and Coolview C35/C50 models, to be easily positioned and adjusted along the wall in clinical environments. It is intended as an accessory rail only: the rail clamp or examination light bracket is not included, as these components are normally supplied with the Coolview examination light itself. This robust, easy-to-clean rail solution supports flexible placement of examination lighting in consultation rooms, treatment rooms and other medical areas.

Usage

Installation must be carried out by suitably competent personnel, following Brandon Medical’s installation guidance and local building regulations.
Determine the desired mounting height and horizontal position on a suitable wall capable of supporting the combined weight of the rail, examination light and any dynamic loads during use.
Mark and drill mounting holes according to the rail’s fixing points; use appropriate wall anchors and screws suited to the wall construction (e.g. solid masonry, stud partition).
Secure the 1 m rail firmly to the wall, ensuring it is level and that all fixings are tightened to provide a stable mounting surface.
Once the rail is fixed, attach the Coolview rail clamp or light bracket (supplied with the examination light) to the rail, following the light’s installation instructions.
Mount the Brandon Coolview examination light onto its rail clamp/bracket and confirm that the light can slide smoothly along the rail and be locked securely in the desired position.
After installation, check that the rail and clamp combination safely supports the light through its full range of motion and does not shift or loosen during normal use.
Clean the rail regularly with compatible disinfectants as part of the room’s infection control regime, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could damage the surface finish.
Inspect the rail and fixings periodically for signs of corrosion, loosening or damage and re-tighten or replace components as necessary; remove the rail from service if structural integrity is compromised.

Contraindications

Do not install on walls that are unable to support the combined weight of the rail, examination light and any dynamic loads (e.g. weak partitions or damaged surfaces) without appropriate reinforcement.
Not intended for use with non-compatible lighting systems or accessories that are not designed for the Brandon Med-Rail/Coolview rail profile.
Do not use the rail as a support for patients, staff or heavy equipment other than the specified examination light and its accessories.
Do not install in environments where the rail may be exposed to corrosive chemicals, excessive moisture or mechanical impacts beyond the product’s design parameters without additional protection.

Adverse Effects

If incorrectly installed or mounted on an unsuitable wall, there is a risk of rail loosening or detachment, which could result in the attached examination light falling and causing injury or equipment damage.
Inadequate cleaning or use of incompatible cleaning agents may damage the rail’s finish, potentially leading to corrosion or compromised hygiene.
Poorly tightened clamps or brackets could allow unexpected movement of the light, which may disrupt clinical procedures or contribute to minor injury if the light shifts abruptly.

Storage Conditions

Before installation, store the rail in a clean, dry indoor environment, protected from dust, moisture and mechanical damage.
Avoid prolonged storage in areas with high humidity or corrosive atmospheres that may damage metal finishes.
Do not place heavy objects on top of the rail while in storage, to prevent bending or deformation of the profile.
Once installed, maintain standard clinical environmental conditions and clean the rail regularly as part of normal room maintenance.
