Chlorine disinfectant wipes for hard surfaces

Description

Clinell Clorox Tub (5200ppm chlorine) is a ready-to-use, one-step, high-strength chlorine disinfectant wipe for cleaning and disinfecting hard, non-porous surfaces and equipment. Each tub contains 70 extra-heavy, durable wipes impregnated with a 5200ppm available chlorine solution (as sodium hypochlorite), providing rapid broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity including proven effectiveness against Clostridium difficile spores and a wide range of bacteria, fungi and viruses. The wipes feature an odour-masking, anti-corrosion and long-lasting formulation, with a low-splash dispensing tub designed for use in demanding healthcare environments and for terminal cleaning.

Bnefits

  • High-strength 5200ppm available chlorine for powerful sporicidal and disinfectant action.
  • Ready-to-use, one-step wipe for simultaneous cleaning and disinfection of hard surfaces.
  • Proven to reduce Clostridium difficile infection rates and effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens.
  • Extra-heavy, durable wipe material designed not to tear or fall apart, even on large or rough surfaces.
  • Formulated to keep treated surfaces wetter for longer, supporting required contact times.
  • Odour-masking technology to provide a more pleasant, subtle bleach scent for users and patients.
  • Anti-corrosion additives to improve compatibility with many hospital-grade surfaces.
  • Low-splash, easy-dispense tub design for safer, cleaner wipe removal.
  • Stable chlorine formulation with extended shelf life compared to many conventional chlorine wipes.
  • Ideal for terminal cleaning and high-risk areas where C. difficile and other hard-to-kill organisms are a concern.

Indications

  • Disinfection of hard, non-porous surfaces and equipment in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings.
  • Terminal cleaning of patient areas, isolation rooms and high-risk environments.
  • Rapid decontamination of frequently touched surfaces such as bed rails, commodes, trolleys, drip stands and worktops.
  • Use in areas with known or suspected Clostridium difficile contamination.
  • Situations where a high-level sporicidal chlorine disinfectant is required as part of infection prevention and control protocols.

Composition

  • Active ingredient: Sodium hypochlorite 0.55%.
  • Available chlorine: approximately 0.52% (5200ppm) as free available chlorine.
  • Other ingredients: purified water and excipients.
  • Non-ionic surfactant: <5% (to aid cleaning and wetting of surfaces).
  • Impregnated into a heavy-duty, non-woven wipe substrate.

Formulation

  • Pre-moistened chlorine disinfectant wipes.
  • 0.55% sodium hypochlorite solution providing 5200ppm available chlorine.
  • Alkaline aqueous solution with surfactant and proprietary odour-masking and anti-corrosion components.
  • Clear liquid impregnated into extra-heavy, durable non-woven wipe material.

Packaging

  • Tub of 70 pre-moistened wipes.
  • Low-splash, resealable dispensing lid designed to minimise splatter during wipe removal.
  • Single tub unit; typically also supplied in cases (e.g. 6 × 70 wipes) via distributors.
  • Label printing includes organism spectrum, kill times and usage directions.

Usage

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g. disposable gloves) as per local infection-control policy.
  • Open the tub and pull out a single wipe from the centre feed, closing the lid immediately after to prevent drying.
  • Wipe the hard, non-porous surface or equipment thoroughly, ensuring it is visibly wet and fully covered.
  • For routine disinfection, allow the surface to remain wet for the recommended contact time (typically 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the target organism).
  • For Clostridium difficile spores and other highly resistant organisms, ensure a full 3-minute contact time before allowing to air dry, unless the local protocol specifies otherwise.
  • Do not rinse the surface after use unless specifically required by local policy or manufacturer guidance for sensitive equipment.
  • Discard used wipes in appropriate clinical or domestic waste as per local regulations. Do not flush and do not macerate.
  • Do not use on skin or for personal cleansing. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Do not mix with other cleaning chemicals or acids, which may release hazardous chlorine gas.

Contraindications

  • Not for use on skin or for personal cleansing.
  • Not for application to open wounds or mucous membranes.
  • Do not use on soft furnishings or materials that may be damaged by strong oxidising agents or chlorine.
  • Do not mix with other cleaning agents, detergents or acids, as dangerous chlorine gas may be released.
  • Avoid use on chlorine-sensitive metals or materials without confirming compatibility.
  • Do not use if the tub or wipe solution appears heavily discoloured, contaminated or dried out.

Adverse Effects

  • May cause skin irritation or dryness on repeated or prolonged contact with the liquid; gloves are recommended.
  • Eye irritation in case of accidental splashes or contact with the liquid.
  • Respiratory irritation possible if vapour or aerosol is generated in poorly ventilated areas.
  • Potential for surface discolouration or corrosion on incompatible materials if used contrary to manufacturer recommendations.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in the original, tightly closed tub in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and sources of heat to maintain chlorine stability.
  • Store away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Avoid storing near acids or incompatible chemicals.

Duration

Single-use surface application per wipe, with required contact times typically between 30 seconds and 5 minutes depending on the target microorganism (e.g. 3 minutes for Clostridium difficile spores).

Onset

Disinfection begins immediately on contact with the surface; full sporicidal and virucidal efficacy is achieved after the stated contact time (e.g. 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the organism).
