Usage
- Select the correct size using the supplied or online size guide (usually EU sizes with UK equivalents provided); ensure adequate toe room and secure heel fit.
- Lace the trainers securely so that the foot is held comfortably but firmly, avoiding overly tight lacing that may impede circulation.
- Use as occupational footwear in hospital, clinic or other professional environments where anti-slip and anti-static footwear is recommended or required.
- Introduce gradually if necessary; wear for short periods initially to allow the foot and gait to adapt to the new insole and cushioning, especially if transitioning from very different footwear.
- Keep uppers clean by wiping regularly with a damp cloth and mild detergent if required; avoid harsh chemicals or bleach that could damage materials.
- Allow shoes to dry naturally at room temperature away from direct heat sources (radiators, heaters or intense sunlight) to preserve materials and adhesives.
- Remove the anatomic SJ Comfort insole periodically to air and, if appropriate, gently wipe according to manufacturer/distributor care advice.
- Inspect outsole regularly for signs of excessive wear or damage that could compromise slip resistance; replace footwear when tread is significantly worn or cushioning feels degraded.
- Do not modify the footwear (e.g., by drilling holes, removing structural elements or adding non-approved components) as this may reduce performance and invalidate EN/CE compliance.
- Use only for occupational and everyday walking activities; these trainers do not include a safety toe cap and are not suitable where protective toecap footwear to EN ISO 20345 is required.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for workplaces that legally require safety footwear with protective toecaps compliant with EN ISO 20345 (these are occupational O1 shoes without safety toe protection).
- May be unsuitable for individuals with specific foot or gait conditions requiring bespoke orthopaedic footwear or custom-made insoles, unless used under guidance from a podiatrist or clinician.
- Users with known allergies or sensitivities to synthetic leathers, rubbers, adhesives or textile materials used in occupational footwear should check material compatibility or consult a healthcare professional before use.
- Not recommended for environments where open footwear, non-closed uppers or alternative safety classifications are required by local policy or health and safety regulations.
- Any local infection, severe swelling or open wounds on the feet may require temporary avoidance of closed footwear or medical advice before prolonged use.
Adverse Effects
- As with any closed work footwear, possible development of pressure areas, blisters, rubbing or callus formation if size or fit is inappropriate or socks are insufficiently cushioned.
- Potential foot fatigue, arch discomfort or knee/hip/back discomfort if shoes are excessively worn, incorrectly laced or used with inadequate sizing.
- Increased perspiration or odour if worn for long hours without adequate sock changes, airing or hygiene measures.
- In rare cases, contact dermatitis or irritation in users sensitive to specific materials, adhesives or finishes used in the upper, lining or insole.
- Reduced slip resistance and increased risk of slips and falls if outsoles become heavily worn, contaminated with oils/greases or not cleaned appropriately.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Allow shoes to dry fully between shifts, especially if they have become damp, to maintain material integrity and hygiene.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to high heat sources (radiators, heaters, hot vehicles) which may deform soles or degrade adhesives.
- Keep away from corrosive chemicals, oils or solvents that could damage the outsole or upper.
- Store in original box or on a shoe rack to help maintain shape and protect from dust when not in regular use.
Duration
Not applicable as a medical treatment; in normal occupational use, a pair will typically provide effective comfort and slip resistance for many months of regular wear, but replacement intervals depend on user weight, activity level, working environment and outsole wear.
Onset
Comfort, cushioning and slip-resistance benefits are experienced immediately upon wearing, with full anti-fatigue benefit realised over the course of extended shifts once the memory-foam insole has conformed to the wearer\u2019s foot.
