U40 insulin syringes (0.5 ml, 30G x 8 mm, fixed needle)

Description

A Micro-Fine, fixed needle 0.5 ml syringe from BD, designed for U40 insulin and other subcutaneous medications. The integrated 30G x 8 mm Micro-Fine needle offers a more comfortable injection experience than larger-gauge needles, and the 0.5 ml barrel with clear red U40 scale and clear hub allows accurate dosing, which is essential for achieving optimum glycaemic control. Supplied as a pack of 10 sterile, single-use syringes of European Community origin.

Bnefits

  • Provides a simple, safe and reliable way to administer U40 insulin and other subcutaneous medications.
  • Integrated Micro-Fine 30G x 8 mm needle designed to minimise injection discomfort compared with larger-gauge needles.
  • 0.5 ml U40 barrel with clear red scale and clear hub for accurate dose measurement, supporting optimal glycaemic control.
  • Syringes are factory-lubricated and use thin-wall needle technology to reduce penetration force and improve insulin flow.
  • Sterile, single-use device with individually sealed fixed-needle syringes to support infection prevention.
  • Trusted BD Micro-Fine+ design that has been used for years in diabetes care and aesthetic injection practice.
  • CE-marked medical device manufactured in the European Community and distributed via MHRA-registered UK wholesalers.

Indications

  • Subcutaneous injection of U40 insulin in patients requiring insulin therapy.
  • Subcutaneous injection of other compatible U40 formulations where a 0.5 ml fixed-needle syringe is clinically appropriate.
  • Use in clinical, veterinary, and aesthetic practice where a fine 30G x 8 mm fixed needle and 0.5 ml U40 scale are indicated for dosing.
  • Situations where accurate small-volume insulin dosing (up to 20 IU in 0.5 IU steps) is required.

Composition

  • 0.5 ml U40 insulin syringe barrel with clear red U40 graduation scale, typically made from medical-grade polypropylene.
  • Integrated fixed 30G (0.30 mm) x 8 mm needle manufactured from surgical stainless steel.
  • Electropolished, multi-bevel needle tip geometry to optimise sharpness and reduce penetration force.
  • Special BD lubricant on the needle to improve glide and minimise tissue trauma during injection.
  • Latex-free, sterile, single-use construction (non-pyrogenic).

Formulation

  • Sterile, single-use U40 insulin syringe with integrated 30G x 8 mm needle, 0.5 ml nominal capacity, graduated in 0.5 IU steps up to 20 IU.
  • Supplied as fixed-needle syringes in sealed sterile inner packaging within an outer carton.

Packaging

  • Retail unit supplied by Two Face Aesthetics: bag or blister containing 10 x fixed needle syringes (0.5 ml U40, 30G x 8 mm).
  • Manufacturer master carton for this product line: typically 10 inner bags of 10 syringes (100 pcs) per box, labelled BD Micro-Fine+ U40 0.5 ml, 0.30 mm (30G) x 8 mm.
  • Packaging includes CE mark, product code, U40 identification (red cap and red scale), lot number and expiry date.
  • Each syringe is individually sterile within the inner pack to maintain asepsis until use.

Usage

  • Use only for U40 insulin or other medications specifically prescribed for administration with a U40 0.5 ml syringe. Verify that the syringe scale (U40) matches the insulin concentration before use.
  • Wash or sanitise hands and prepare the injection site according to local clinical protocols before injection.
  • Remove the protective needle cap, draw the prescribed dose of insulin into the syringe using the red U40 scale (up to 20 IU in 0.5 IU increments), and check for air bubbles, expelling air as required.
  • Inject subcutaneously using an appropriate technique and injection site (e.g., abdomen, thigh, upper arm) as instructed by a healthcare professional.
  • Do not inject intravenously or intramuscularly unless specifically directed by a clinician.
  • Use each syringe and needle only once; do not reuse or share syringes between patients to avoid infection risk.
  • After injection, do not recap the needle by hand. Dispose of the used syringe immediately into an approved sharps container in accordance with local regulations.
  • Do not use the syringe if the sterile packaging is damaged, opened, or if the syringe or needle appears bent, contaminated, or defective.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged, opened, or has been previously used.
  • Do not reuse or share syringes; intended as a single-use device only.
  • Not suitable for insulins or injectables that do not match U40 concentration or are incompatible with a 0.5 ml fixed-needle syringe.
  • Do not use for intravenous administration unless explicitly directed by a healthcare professional and clinically appropriate.
  • Patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the device (e.g., rare sensitivity to stainless steel or lubricant) should not use this product.

Adverse Effects

  • Local injection site reactions such as pain, mild bleeding, bruising, erythema or swelling.
  • Rare risk of infection or abscess at the injection site, particularly if aseptic technique is not followed or syringes are reused.
  • Lipohypertrophy or lipoatrophy at injection sites when injections are repeatedly given into the same area (related to insulin therapy and injection technique rather than the syringe itself).
  • Very rare risk of needle breakage if the needle is bent or manipulated inappropriately before or during injection.

Storage Conditions

  • Store syringes in their original, sealed packaging until use to maintain sterility.
  • Keep in a clean, dry environment at normal room temperature away from excessive heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Protect from physical damage, contamination, and compression that could bend needles or compromise packaging integrity.
  • Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.
