Blunt-tip dermal filler microcannula

Description

Premium blunt-tip 27G x 38 mm aesthetic cannula developed by Croma and TSK for dermal filler delivery, featuring a patented dome-shaped tip, ultra-thin wall tubing and proprietary surface treatment to improve gliding, reduce insertion force and minimise bruising and swelling. Supplied as a box of 20 single-use cannulas with 20 matching introducer needles for precise and comfortable facial filler placement.

Bnefits

  • Patented dome-shaped tip for easier cannula introduction and reduced risk of bruising.
  • Blunt-tip microcannula design intended to lower the risk of vascular injury compared with sharp needles when used appropriately by trained professionals.
  • Proprietary surface treatment and ultra-thin wall technology for smoother gliding and up to approximately 50% better glide and lower insertion force versus traditional cannulas.
  • Nearest-to-tip side port for more accurate filler placement and reduced product loss.
  • Side-port marking on the hub helps orient the outlet for precise delivery.
  • Flexible cannula shaft allows treatment of a larger area from a single entry point, which may reduce patient discomfort and tissue trauma.
  • Made from high-quality steel and manufactured in Japan for consistent performance.
  • Compatible with standard luer-lock syringes used for dermal fillers.

Indications

  • Intended for use by trained healthcare professionals for the injection and placement of dermal fillers in aesthetic medicine.
  • Typical facial indications include tear trough, jawline and lips, according to supplier usage guidance.
  • Can be used for other soft-tissue filler applications where a 27G x 38 mm blunt cannula is considered appropriate by the treating practitioner.

Composition

  • Blunt-tip stainless steel microcannula tubing (27G, 38 mm length).
  • Ultra-thin wall cannula design to facilitate flow of hyaluronic acid and other compatible dermal fillers.
  • Hard polymer luer-lock hub with clear side-port marking for orientation.
  • Supplied with matching sharp introducer needles/stylets for creating the entry point.

Formulation

  • Medical-grade stainless steel blunt-tip cannula, 27G (outer diameter approximately 0.4 mm), length 38 mm (1½ inch).
  • Dome-shaped, tapered distal tip with lateral outlet near the tip for nearest-to-tip filler delivery.
  • Proprietary low-friction surface treatment on cannula shaft to improve glide and reduce tissue resistance.
  • Luer-lock compatible hub designed for secure connection to filler syringes.

Packaging

  • Box containing 20 STERiGLIDE 27G x 38 mm cannulas.
  • Includes 20 corresponding introducer needles/stylets for pre-hole creation.
  • Each set supplied sterile and intended for single use only.
  • Outer packaging labelled with gauge, length, lot number and expiry date.

Usage

  • For use only by appropriately trained and qualified healthcare professionals experienced in dermal filler injection techniques.
  • Select the cannula size based on the indication, treatment area and filler characteristics as per filler manufacturer and local guidelines.
  • Create a small pre-hole in the skin with the supplied introducer needle at an appropriate entry point, following aseptic technique.
  • Attach the STERiGLIDE cannula securely to a luer-lock syringe, ensuring the hub is firmly seated and oriented using the side-port marking.
  • Advance the blunt cannula through the pre-hole along the planned tissue plane using gentle, controlled movements, without applying excessive force.
  • Inject the dermal filler slowly and incrementally while withdrawing or moving the cannula, according to the chosen injection technique and product instructions.
  • Dispose of cannula and introducer needle immediately after use as single-use sharps in an appropriate clinical sharps container; do not re-sterilise or reuse.
  • Always follow the dermal filler manufacturer’s instructions for use, local regulations and institutional protocols in addition to any instructions provided with the cannula.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in patients for whom dermal filler injections are contraindicated according to the filler manufacturer or local clinical guidelines.
  • Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to stainless steel or any component of the device.
  • Do not use for intravascular injection; avoid blood vessels and follow safe injection practices.
  • Do not use if the sterile package is damaged, opened or past its expiry date.
  • Single-use device; do not re-use, reprocess or re-sterilise.
  • Use with caution, or avoid, in areas with compromised skin integrity, active infection or inflammation at or near the intended injection site, in line with standard filler contraindications.

Adverse Effects

  • Local injection-site reactions such as transient pain, tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising.
  • Bleeding or haematoma formation at the entry point or along the cannula track.
  • Infection at the injection or entry site if aseptic technique is not adequately maintained.
  • Tissue trauma, nodules or irregularities related to filler placement or technique.
  • Vascular compromise, including ischaemia or necrosis, or embolic events if filler is inadvertently introduced into or compresses a blood vessel; this risk is reduced but not eliminated when using a blunt cannula and requires appropriate training and vigilance.
  • Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions to the filler or, rarely, to device materials.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature, away from excessive heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Keep in the original sterile packaging until point of use to maintain sterility.
  • Do not use after the labelled expiry date.
  • Protect from mechanical damage (crushing, bending) during storage and transport.

Duration

Single-use device; it is a delivery tool and does not itself determine treatment duration. The longevity of aesthetic results depends on the filler product and treatment plan rather than the cannula.

Onset

Immediate in mechanical terms; the cannula allows instant delivery of filler to the target tissue. Visible aesthetic effects follow the behaviour and properties of the injected filler.
