ECG Chart Paper (Thermal Z-Fold)
Description
ECG Thermal Z-Fold to Use With ELI150/150C is a thermal Z-fold recording chart paper designed for use with Welch Allyn / Mortara ELI 150 and ELI 150c electrocardiographs. Each pack contains 200 sheets of cued, red-grid thermal paper in a Z-fold format, with each sheet measuring approximately 108 mm x 140 mm (4.25\ x 5.5\). The cued Z-fold design ensures proper alignment and smooth feeding through the ECG printer, producing clear, legible ECG traces suitable for clinical interpretation and archiving. This Medisave listing is on clearance due to a short manufacturer-recommended shelf life (expiry November 2023), reflecting the time-sensitive nature of thermal paper image stability.
Bnefits
- Specifically sized and formatted (108 mm x 140 mm, cued Z-fold) for use with ELI 150 and ELI 150c ECG machines.
- Red grid on white thermal paper provides excellent contrast and clarity for ECG waveform interpretation.
- Cued Z-fold format promotes correct loading and alignment, reducing feed errors and misprints.
- One pack contains 200 sheets, offering ample capacity for routine ECG recording in busy clinical settings.
- Thermal paper compatible with standard ECG printer mechanisms — no ink or toner required.
- Supplied by a recognised medical distributor with clear compatibility information for device users.
Indications
- Recording resting ECG traces on ELI 150 and ELI 150c electrocardiograph devices.
- Producing hard-copy ECG reports for use in diagnosis, clinical review and patient record archiving in hospitals, clinics and primary care.
- Use in any setting where compatible ELI 150/150c devices are deployed and printed ECG outputs are required.
Composition
- Thermal paper base with heat-sensitive coating for ECG printing.
- Red-printed grid pattern on white background for standardised ECG trace scaling.
- Z-folded stack for continuous feed through the ECG printer.
Formulation
- Chart type: Thermal, cued, Z-fold ECG recording paper.
- Dimensions per sheet: 108 mm x 140 mm (approximately 4.25" x 5.5").
- Grid: Red grid on white paper.
- Sheets per pack: 200.
Packaging
- Supplied as 1 pack of 200 Z-fold sheets.
- Pack wrapped to protect from dust and moisture during storage and transport.
- Outer labelling identifies compatibility (ELI150/150C), dimensions (108 mm x 140 mm), format (Z-fold) and reference code 9100-028-50.
- Listed by Medisave as a clearance item due to short expiry (November 2023).
Usage
- Confirm that the ECG device is an ELI 150 or ELI 150c (or equivalent compatible model) before use.
- Open the ECG printer compartment according to the device user manual.
- Place the Z-fold stack into the paper compartment with the thermal side and grid correctly oriented as indicated by the device instructions.
- Feed the leading edge of the paper into the printer path to the marked guide, ensuring the folds are neatly aligned to allow smooth feeding.
- Close the compartment and perform a test print or ECG recording to verify correct loading and print quality.
- Handle printed ECGs carefully and file them in patient records or scan into electronic record systems as required.
- Dispose of used or misprinted sheets as normal paper waste unless visibly contaminated with biological material, in which case follow local clinical waste policies.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for use in ECG devices that require different paper sizes, roll formats or non-thermal paper.
- Should not be used after the manufacturer’s recommended expiry date, as image stability and print quality may be compromised.
- Not intended for any use other than ECG recording on compatible equipment.
Adverse Effects
- No direct patient adverse effects when used as intended, as the product is a non-invasive consumable.
- Risk of incomplete or poor-quality ECG traces if the paper is loaded incorrectly, damaged, expired or exposed to unsuitable storage conditions, which may lead to misinterpretation.
- Minor paper cuts or skin irritation may occur in staff if paper is handled carelessly.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight.
- Keep within the temperature and humidity ranges recommended for thermal paper (typically room temperature, low to moderate humidity).
- Keep in original packaging until use to protect from dust, moisture and physical damage.
- Avoid storage near heat sources, solvents or chemical vapours, which can degrade the thermal coating and printed image quality.
