Usage
- Unpack all components carefully and verify that all parts listed in the assembly instructions are present and undamaged.
- Assemble the cart according to the manufacturer’s instructions, installing the frame, work surface, casters, accessory bin and WAM/AM12 holster securely using the supplied hardware.
- Ensure all four swivel casters are firmly attached and that the brake mechanisms operate correctly before placing equipment on the cart.
- Position the cart on a level surface and lock the caster brakes before mounting the ELI 150c, ELI 250c or ELI 280 ECG device on the work surface.
- Place the ECG device centrally on the 22" x 16" work surface to maintain stability and avoid overhanging loads.
- Use the accessory bin to store ECG electrodes, paper, cables, barcode scanners and other small accessories; route ECG and power cables so they are neatly managed and do not create trip hazards.
- Place the Welch Allyn WAM wireless acquisition module or AM12 patient cable in the dedicated holster when not connected to a patient to reduce strain on cables and connectors.
- When moving the cart between examination rooms, release the caster brakes and push the cart from the frame (not from the ECG device) while keeping the path clear of obstacles; reapply the brakes once in position.
- Do not exceed any load limits specified in the official product documentation and avoid sitting, standing or placing heavy non-medical items on the cart.
- Clean the work surface, frame, accessory bin and holster regularly with manufacturer-approved cleaning agents for medical equipment, avoiding abrasive materials or harsh solvents that could damage finishes.
- Periodically inspect casters, brakes, fasteners and accessories for wear or loosening; tighten or replace components in line with the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations.
Contraindications
- Not intended for use as a patient support surface; patients must not sit, stand or lie on the cart.
- Should not be used on excessively uneven, sloped or unstable flooring where the cart may roll or tip despite caster brakes.
- Not suitable for loads exceeding the cart’s specified weight capacity as outlined in the official product documentation.
- Do not use if the cart frame, casters, brakes, work surface or accessory bin are damaged or unstable, as this may pose a risk to equipment and staff.
- Not designed for transport in vehicles or for use in environments that do not meet standard indoor healthcare facility conditions (e.g. extreme temperatures or corrosive atmospheres).
Adverse Effects
- If brakes are not engaged correctly, there is a risk of the cart moving unexpectedly, which may lead to equipment damage or staff injury.
- Overloading or uneven loading of the cart could lead to tipping, with potential damage to ECG equipment or risk of minor injury.
- Poorly managed cables may create trip hazards for staff or patients if not routed and stored appropriately in the bin and holster.
- Minor risk of pinching fingers when adjusting or moving the cart, particularly around casters and frame joints, if hands are not kept clear.
Storage Conditions
- Store and use the cart indoors in a clean, dry clinical environment.
- Keep away from direct sources of intense heat, open flames or corrosive chemicals that could damage surfaces, casters or accessories.
- When not in regular use, park the cart with caster brakes engaged on a level surface and, if possible, disconnect powered ECG equipment according to manufacturer guidance.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture or standing water to prevent corrosion or damage to casters and metal components.
- If the cart is stored for extended periods without use, periodically check casters, brakes and fasteners for proper function before returning to service.
Duration
Not applicable; this product is a mobile cart accessory and does not provide direct patient treatment. Duration of use is continuous as part of the ECG workstation setup, depending on clinical workflow.
Onset
Not applicable in a clinical sense; mobility and organisational benefits are available immediately once the cart is assembled, equipped with the ECG device and put into service.
