IV administration set / pump giving set

Description

The IV Set for Infusomat Space B.Braun PVC - 250cm - Box of 100 is a dedicated Infusomat Space Line Basic PVC administration set designed for use with B. Braun Infusomat Space, Infusomat Spaceplus and Infusomat fmS infusion pumps, as well as for gravity infusions. The line is 250 cm long and manufactured from PVC that is not made with DEHP, incorporating a precision silicone pump segment for accurate and consistent delivery over extended periods. It includes a drip chamber with bacteria-tight air vent, sharp piercing spike, set-based free-flow protection clamp, roller clamp with line holder, and a Luer lock patient connector. Supplied as a box of 100 sterile, single-use sets, it is suitable for standard IV infusions in hospital, clinic, and aesthetic/IV therapy settings.

Bnefits

  • Dedicated IV administration set specifically designed for B. Braun Infusomat Space family pumps while also suitable for gravity infusions.
  • 250 cm line length provides ample reach between the pump/IV pole and the patient for flexible positioning.
  • PVC tubing not manufactured with DEHP, combined with a silicone pump segment, supports accurate flow and long-term delivery performance.
  • Silicone pump segment helps maintain high delivery accuracy and consistency for up to typical long-term usage (e.g. up to 96 hours, depending on protocol and local guidelines).
  • Set-based free-flow protection clamp automatically clamps the line when the tubing is removed from the pump, helping to prevent accidental free-flow.
  • Drip chamber with bacteria-tight air vent and defined drop factor (approximately 20 drops per 1 ml) supports reliable visual monitoring and gravity flow control.
  • Roller clamp with line holder allows manual fine adjustment of flow rate and convenient securing of the line and spike for safe disposal.
  • Sharp piercing spike allows easy penetration of various IV fluid container ports, improving workflow efficiency.
  • Sterile, single-use IV set reduces cross-contamination risk when used according to aseptic technique.
  • Compatible with standard Luer connectors for secure connection to IV cannulas or extension sets.

Indications

  • Standard intravenous infusion of compatible fluids and medications using B. Braun Infusomat Space, Infusomat Spaceplus or Infusomat fmS pumps.
  • Gravity-based IV infusions where a dedicated pump-compatible administration set of 250 cm length is required.
  • Hospital and clinic settings for routine fluid therapy, maintenance infusions and drug delivery according to local protocols.
  • Aesthetic and wellness clinics for prescribed IV therapies and vitamin infusions delivered via compatible infusion pumps or gravity where appropriate.

Composition

  • Tubing made of medical-grade PVC (not manufactured with DEHP).
  • Integrated silicone pump segment matched to B. Braun Infusomat Space pump mechanism.
  • IV standard sharp piercing spike for connection to IV bags or bottles.
  • Drip chamber with bacteria-tight air vent and defined drop factor (approximately 20 drops = 1 ml).
  • Set-based free-flow protection clamp that automatically clamps the line when removed from the pump.
  • Roller clamp with integrated line holder for manual flow regulation and secure disposal of the spike.
  • Luer lock patient-end connector for secure attachment to IV catheters or extension sets.
  • Spike protector cap and dust caps for maintaining sterility prior to use.
  • Latex-free fluid path components in line with modern B. Braun Infusomat Space Line designs.

Formulation

  • Sterile, single-use IV administration set (Infusomat Space Line Basic PVC) with 250 cm tubing for standard infusions.
  • PVC tubing (DEHP-free) combined with a silicone pump segment engineered for use with B. Braun Infusomat Space series infusion pumps.
  • Configured for both pump-driven and gravity infusion, with drip chamber, air vent, flow control clamp and Luer lock connector integrated into one set.

Packaging

  • Each IV administration set is individually sterile-packed in a peel-open medical-grade pouch.
  • Commercial carton contains 100 individually packed sets (Box of 100).
  • Outer carton and individual pouches are labelled with product name, length (250 cm), brand (B. Braun), SKU (8701148SP), lot number, expiry date and standard medical device symbols (single use, sterile, etc.).

Usage

  • For use only by trained healthcare professionals, in accordance with local clinical protocols and the instructions for use supplied by B. Braun.
  • Before use, check that the sterile pouch is intact and within its expiry date; do not use if the packaging is damaged or opened.
  • Close the roller clamp and ensure the free-flow protection clamp is in the appropriate position before connecting to fluid and pump.
  • Aseptically remove the spike protector and insert the spike into the IV solution bag or bottle, ensuring a secure fit.
  • Squeeze the drip chamber to partially fill it to the recommended level to allow clear visualization of drops.
  • Prime the tubing by slowly opening the roller clamp until all air is expelled and the line is completely filled with fluid; then close the clamp.
  • Load the silicone pump segment into the B. Braun Infusomat Space (or compatible) pump according to the pump’s operating instructions and printed loading pattern on the line.
  • Connect the distal Luer lock connector to the patient’s IV cannula or extension line using aseptic technique.
  • Set the prescribed infusion parameters on the pump or, if using gravity, adjust the roller clamp to achieve the ordered flow rate while observing the drip rate.
  • Monitor the infusion site and patient regularly for signs of complications, and replace the set in accordance with institutional policies or manufacturer recommendations for maximum use duration.
  • After completion of therapy, close the roller clamp, disconnect from the patient and the container, and dispose of the entire set as clinical waste; do not reuse or resterilise.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if the sterile package is damaged, opened or past the stated expiry date.
  • Not to be reused or resterilised; reuse can increase the risk of infection, device malfunction and inaccurate infusion rates.
  • Do not use with solutions or medications that are contraindicated for administration via PVC tubing or via the Infusomat Space Line as specified by product and drug information.
  • Use only with compatible B. Braun Infusomat Space series pumps and as specified by the manufacturer; do not attempt to modify the set.
  • Do not use if any part of the set (tubing, spike, pump segment, connectors) appears damaged, kinked or occluded.

Adverse Effects

  • As with any IV administration set, improper use may contribute to IV therapy complications such as infiltration, extravasation, phlebitis, infection, air embolism or fluid overload.
  • Incorrect priming or failure to remove air from the line may allow air to enter the infusion system and potentially the patient’s circulation.
  • Use with incompatible solutions or drugs may lead to precipitation, leaching effects, or reduced drug stability and efficacy.
  • Non-adherence to aseptic technique can increase the risk of local or systemic infection.
  • Failure to correctly load the pump segment or use the free-flow protection features may result in inaccurate flow or unintentional free-flow.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature, away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
  • Keep in original packaging until immediately before use to maintain sterility.
  • Do not expose the pouches or cartons to sharp objects or crushing forces that could damage the tubing or components.
  • Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Duration

The administration set is intended for single-patient use over a limited period (e.g. generally up to 24\u201396 hours, depending on local protocols and solution type) and should then be replaced; actual infusion duration is determined by the prescribed therapy and pump settings rather than by the set itself.

Onset

Not applicable to the device itself; onset and clinical effects depend on the fluids and medications being infused, as prescribed by the clinician.
