Blunt-tip microcannulas for dermal filler and injection procedures
Description
JBP NanoCannula (JBP Cannula) is a new-generation, ultra-thin walled, blunt-tip microcannula system developed by Japan Bio Products for safer and more comfortable injection of dermal fillers and other aesthetic solutions. Using JBP’s proprietary Nano Polishing and Micron Sharpness technologies, the cannula features a thin wall with a wide inner diameter for low-resistance injection, a micro-polished side port for smoother entry, and a matching sharp introducer needle engineered to minimise pain and tissue trauma. The device is designed to reduce hypodermal tissue damage, bruising, and downtime compared with conventional sharp needles, while maintaining precise and controlled product delivery.
Bnefits
- Ultra-thin walled cannula with wide inner diameter for smooth, low-resistance injections
- Blunt-tip microcannula design to reduce trauma to vessels and surrounding soft tissues
- Proprietary Nano Polishing and Micron Sharpness manufacturing for a micro-polished cannula port
- Less downtime and less internal bleeding compared with sharp needle injections
- Reduced patient discomfort and procedure-related pain
- Improved safety profile for dermal filler and mesotherapy procedures by lowering risk of intravascular injection compared with sharp needles
- High flexibility to navigate tissue planes more easily and cover larger treatment areas from fewer entry points
- Sterile, single-use device supplied with matching punching (introducer) needles
Indications
- Aesthetic and dermatological procedures requiring blunt-tip microcannulas, including injection of dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid gels
- Facial contouring and volumisation (e.g., cheeks, jawline, temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines)
- Lip augmentation and perioral rejuvenation using cannula technique where clinically appropriate
- Mesotherapy and skin-boosting treatments in the face, neck and décolletage when a blunt cannula is preferred
- Other minimally invasive aesthetic procedures where a sterile, single-use blunt-tip cannula is indicated by the treating practitioner
Composition
- Cannula: medical-grade stainless steel, ultra-thin walled tubing
- Cannula tip: blunt tip with micro-polished side port/port opening
- Introducer (punching) needle: sharp stainless steel needle supplied with each cannula for skin entry point creation
- Hub: standard luer-lock compatible plastic hub for attachment to syringes containing fillers or other injectable solutions
- Packaging: sterile blister pack within labelled outer box
Formulation
- Ultra-thin walled blunt-tip microcannula available in multiple gauges (e.g., 21G, 22G, 23G, 25G, 27G, 30G) and lengths (e.g., 25 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 70 mm)
- Thin wall design with increased inner diameter to allow injection of more viscous fillers through smaller gauges
- Side-port opening with Nano Polishing and Micron Sharpness finishing for smoother tissue passage
- Flexible shaft to permit fan and threading techniques with fewer entry points
- Each sterile unit supplied with a corresponding sharp introducer needle (punching needle) in the same blister
- Single-use, sterile, CE-marked medical device supplied in boxes (typically 24 cannulas per box)
Packaging
- Standard manufacturer packaging: 1 box containing 24 sterile, single-use cannulas with matching introducer needles (UTW/NanoCannula variants)
- Each cannula and introducer needle pair packed in an individual sterile blister pack
- Outer carton printed with gauge, length, lot number, expiry date, CE mark and manufacturer details
- Supplied by distributors as single units (1 cannula), partial quantities or full boxes depending on local regulations and ordering options
Usage
- For use only by trained and appropriately qualified healthcare professionals experienced in injection techniques and the specific products being administered.
- Select the appropriate gauge and length of JBP NanoCannula based on the indication, treatment area, filler rheology and practitioner technique.
- Inspect the sterile blister and packaging before use; do not use if the package is damaged or the expiry date has passed.
- Use the supplied sharp introducer (punching) needle to create a small entry point in the skin at the desired access location.
- Attach the JBP NanoCannula to a luer-lock syringe containing the chosen dermal filler or injectable solution, ensuring a secure connection.
- Insert the blunt cannula tip through the pre-made entry point and advance along the appropriate anatomical plane using minimal force.
- Inject product slowly with controlled pressure; the thin wall and wide inner diameter are designed to reduce resistance during injection.
- After use, safely dispose of the cannula and introducer needle in an appropriate sharps container in accordance with local regulations. Do not resterilize or reuse.
Contraindications
- Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to stainless steel or any material used in the device.
- Do not use at sites of active skin infection, inflammation or compromised skin barrier in the planned injection area.
- Not suitable for use as a cutting or incising instrument; the blunt cannula is intended only for injection in appropriate tissue planes.
- Do not use if sterile barrier is compromised, if the packaging is damaged, or if the product is past its expiration date.
- Use is contraindicated in patients or settings where the planned injectable product itself is contraindicated, according to its own prescribing information.
Adverse Effects
- Local injection-related reactions, such as temporary pain or discomfort at the entry point despite the use of a blunt cannula.
- Bruising, swelling, erythema or tenderness at or near the injection site.
- Rarely, haematoma formation or vascular compromise if inadvertently used inappropriately or in conjunction with poor technique.
- Infection at the injection site if aseptic technique is not followed.
- Device-related issues such as bending or kinking of the cannula if excessive force is applied; the product should then be discarded and replaced.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of excessive heat or moisture.
- Keep in original packaging until point of use to maintain sterility and protect from physical damage.
- Do not freeze, crush or place heavy objects on top of product boxes to avoid deforming the cannulas or blisters.
- Observe the expiry date on the outer carton and individual blister; do not use after expiry.
Duration
Not directly applicable; JBP NanoCannula is a single-use medical device used during individual aesthetic injection sessions rather than a time-limited therapy.
Onset
Not directly applicable to the device itself; clinical effect is determined by the injected product (e.g., dermal filler) and injection technique, with mechanical benefits of reduced trauma visible immediately as less bruising and swelling in many patients.
