PDO cog lifting threads
Description
LIFSkin Cog Thread 19G 100mm x 10 (Semi Blunt) is a premium PDO cog thread system designed to tighten, lift and smooth fine lines on the face and body. Each thread is made from biodegradable polydioxanone (PDO) and features a 360° helically arranged, single-barbed twisting filament that provides strong anchoring in the tissue for effective lifting. The threads are preloaded in a semi-blunt 19G W and L-type cannula with a 45° tip, helping minimise trauma, bruising and discomfort during insertion. Over time, the PDO filament gradually dissolves and stimulates new collagen production, leading to sustained skin rejuvenation and improved firmness. Each box contains 10 semi-blunt cog threads (19G, 100mm) for professional use only.
Bnefits
- 360° helically arranged single-barbed cog design for effective tissue grip and lifting
- PDO cog thread provides immediate mechanical lifting and progressive collagen stimulation for long-term rejuvenation
- Semi-blunt 45° W and L-type cannula helps reduce tissue trauma, bruising and patient discomfort during insertion
- Suitable for tightening, lifting and smoothing fine lines and sagging skin on both face and body
- Biodegradable PDO filament naturally dissolves over time, leaving behind newly formed collagen for durable results
- Provides a minimally invasive alternative to surgical lifting procedures in appropriate patients
- Part of the LIFSkin premium PDO thread portfolio, CE-marked and produced under ISO and GMP quality standards
- Pack of 10 threads offers practical quantity for full-face or multi-area treatment protocols

- Abdomen
- Patients seeking minimally invasive thread lifting and collagen stimulation performed by trained medical aesthetic practitioners
Composition
- Polydioxanone (PDO) biodegradable synthetic polymer filament forming the cog thread
- Single-barbed, helically arranged 360° cog structure along the PDO filament
- 19G semi-blunt cannula (W and L-type) preloaded with a 100mm PDO cog thread
- Stainless steel cannula manufactured to medical device standards
Formulation
- Implantable polydioxanone (PDO) cog thread with 360° helical single barbs
- Thread length: 100mm
- Cannula gauge: 19G (semi-blunt, 45° tip, W and L-type cannula)
- Absorbable PDO material designed to hydrolyse gradually over several months while inducing collagen production
- Sterile, single-use, individually blister-packed threads for professional implantation into subdermal tissue
Packaging
- Box containing 10 x 19G (100mm) semi-blunt cog PDO threads
- Each thread supplied sterile in an individual blister pack with a preloaded cannula
- External packaging printed with product details, gauge, length, batch number, expiry date and regulatory markings (CE, ISO, GMP)
- Intended for distribution to verified clinics and trained practitioners via LPG Clinics Wholesale
Usage
- For professional use only: LIFSkin Cog threads must be inserted exclusively by suitably trained and qualified medical aesthetic practitioners familiar with PDO thread techniques and complication management.
- Perform a full medical history, facial assessment and treatment plan before selecting thread type, entry points and vectors.
- Cleanse and disinfect the treatment area thoroughly; apply local anaesthetic (topical or injectable) as clinically indicated and in accordance with local regulations.
- Identify and mark insertion and exit points and planned vectors on the skin prior to the procedure.
- Insert the preloaded 19G semi-blunt cannula along the marked vector within the appropriate subdermal or SMAS plane, taking care to avoid major vessels and nerves.
- Advance the cannula using gentle, controlled movements until the desired endpoint is reached, then withdraw the cannula while leaving the PDO cog thread in place to anchor and lift the tissue.
- Once the thread is positioned, perform gentle moulding or lifting manoeuvres as needed to achieve the desired lift and contour, then trim excess thread at the skin entry point.
- Repeat as required with multiple threads to address all planned vectors and treatment areas, staying within safe limits and manufacturer guidance.
- Provide post-procedure aftercare instructions, which typically include avoiding excessive facial movement, massage, strenuous exercise, heat exposure (sauna/steam), dental work and sleeping face-down for a specified period (often 1–2 weeks), as well as monitoring for bruising, swelling or other common responses.
- Ensure the patient is supplied with clear guidance on expected recovery, potential side effects and when to contact the clinic for review or emergency care.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to polydioxanone (PDO) or any component of the device
- Active skin infection, inflammation, acne or dermatitis at or near the intended treatment site
- Severe autoimmune disease, uncontrolled diabetes or significant systemic illness that may impair healing or increase complication risk, unless carefully assessed and cleared by a physician
- Bleeding disorders or current use of anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication that cannot be safely paused in line with medical advice
- History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring in areas planned for thread placement
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding (elective cosmetic PDO thread procedures are generally not recommended)
- Unrealistic expectations, body dysmorphic disorder or inability to comply with aftercare instructions
- Any other contraindications outlined in the official LIFSkin PDO thread documentation or in local clinical guidelines
Adverse Effects
- Common, usually transient effects: pain or tenderness at insertion sites, bruising, swelling, mild asymmetry, tightness or pulling sensations along thread paths
- Localised bleeding, haematoma or erythema at or near entry points
- Infection at the insertion site or along the thread tract, requiring prompt medical management and possible thread removal
- Thread palpability, visibility, dimpling or irregularity of the skin surface which may require massage, adjustment or, rarely, removal
- Temporary sensory changes such as numbness or paresthesia in the treated area due to tissue manipulation or proximity to superficial nerves
- Rare but more serious complications including thread migration, snapping, significant asymmetry, vascular compromise, nerve injury or prolonged pain; these require urgent assessment by an experienced practitioner
- Potential allergic or foreign body reactions to PDO material, although PDO is generally well tolerated and widely used in absorbable sutures
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, within the temperature range specified on the packaging (commonly room temperature).
- Keep the product in its original sealed packaging until immediately before use to maintain sterility and protect the threads and cannulas.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
- Do not use if the sterile blister or outer packaging is damaged, opened or shows signs of tampering.
- Store out of the reach and sight of unauthorised persons, particularly non-professionals and children.
Duration
The mechanical lifting effect is immediate following insertion, with biological effects from collagen stimulation typically developing over several weeks to months. PDO threads usually dissolve over approximately 6\u20139 months, while clinical improvements in firmness and contour may last 12\u201318 months or longer depending on patient factors, thread placement and lifestyle. Treatment courses and maintenance intervals should be individualised by the practitioner.
Onset
Immediate visible lifting and tightening can be observed after the procedure due to mechanical support from the cog threads, with progressive improvement in skin quality and firmness over the following weeks as new collagen is produced around the PDO filament.
