PDO Lifting Threads
Description
MINERVA PDO Mono Threads are sterile, absorbable smooth polydioxanone (PDO) threads provided in a pack of 20 pieces, designed for non-surgical skin tightening, rejuvenation, and collagen stimulation on face and body. The mono threads are inserted under the dermis to create a supporting mesh that gradually lifts skin, improves elasticity, and stimulates natural collagen and elastin regeneration over time.
Bnefits
- Stimulates natural collagen and elastin production leading to firmer, more youthful skin.
- Provides non-surgical skin tightening and rejuvenation with minimal downtime.
- Can be used on face and various body areas to address wrinkles, fine lines, saggy or loose skin.
- Biodegradable and absorbed by the body over time, eliminating long-term foreign material.
- Suitable for repeated procedures if needed, with customizable placement based on patient needs.
- Less invasive than surgical facelift procedures, reducing risk and recovery time.
Indications
- Skin laxity, mild to moderate sagging on face, neck, or body.
- Wrinkles, fine lines, early signs of skin ageing.
- Areas requiring skin tightening: cheeks, jawline, neck, décolletage, arms, abdomen, thighs (depending on thread length and practitioner evaluation).
- Patients seeking minimally invasive aesthetic improvement without surgery.
Composition
- Polydioxanone (PDO) monofilament suture material, medical-grade, absorbable.
Formulation
- Smooth (mono) PDO thread, sterile, single-use, pre-packaged in sterile pouches or foil packaging.
- Thread gauge/length vary depending on specification (e.g., product example 29G × 38 mm for face).
Packaging
- Pack containing 20 sterile PDO mono threads (typically 10 pouches with 2 threads each or 20 individually sealed sterile units, depending on distributor).
- Inner sterile packaging (e.g. foil bags) to maintain sterility until use.
- Outer carton labelled with brand, thread type, gauge/length, lot/batch number and expiry information.
Usage
- To be used only by trained and licensed medical practitioners experienced in PDO thread placement.
- Ensure sterile conditions; open a single thread pack immediately before use, inspect packaging integrity and expiry date.
- Prepare treatment area with antiseptic skin cleansing and local anaesthesia as per protocol.
- Insert the smooth PDO mono thread into the dermis/subdermal layer using fine needle or micro-cannula, following planned vector and depth.
- Upon placement, leave the thread in situ to form a subdermal support mesh; avoid excessive tension to prevent puckering or tissue distortion.
- Provide post-treatment care: advise patient to avoid strenuous facial movements, massage, pressure on treated areas, and follow local aftercare protocols.
- Dispose of used needles or cannulae and packaging in appropriate sharps / medical waste containers as per local regulations.
Contraindications
- Active skin infection, inflammation, acne, dermatitis or skin disease at treatment site.
- Known allergy or hypersensitivity to PDO material or any thread components.
- Unrealistic expectations or severe skin laxity requiring surgical lifting rather than thread lift.
- Autoimmune disorders, coagulation disorders, or use of anticoagulant therapy not managed appropriately.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (in many practices elective aesthetic procedures are contraindicated).
Adverse Effects
- Mild swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness at insertion sites.
- Possible discomfort or temporary tightness, pulling or sensation along the thread vectors, especially during facial movements.
- Risk of infection if aseptic technique is compromised.
- Possible thread migration, visibility or palpability under the skin if placed superficially or inappropriately.
- Rare allergic or foreign-body reaction, though PDO is generally biocompatible.
Storage Conditions
- Store unopened packs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of moisture.
- Maintain at controlled room temperature as per manufacturer specifications (typically 2–25 °C).
- Keep in original packaging until use to preserve sterility.
- Protect from physical damage (bending, perforation) of sterile pouches or threads.
Duration
Effect duration typically 12\u201318 months, depending on patient skin condition, lifestyle and number/placement of threads.
Onset
Initial skin tightening may become visible within a few weeks as collagen production increases; gradual improvement over 4\u20138 weeks with full effect developing over several months.
