Hypodermic Needles
Description
Pink 18G x 1.5\ BD Microlance 3 hypodermic needles supplied by Fillers Direct. These are precision-engineered Becton Dickinson stainless steel needles with a pink colour-coded hub, 18 gauge and 40 mm (1.5 inch) length. They are sterile, single-use, individually packaged needles designed for hypodermic administration of pharmaceuticals and other clinical procedures, compatible with both Luer slip and Luer-lock syringes, commonly used in aesthetic practice for filler preparation, reconstitution and injection.
Bnefits
- High-quality BD Microlance 3 needles designed for easy penetration and smooth gliding through tissue, helping to improve patient comfort.
- 18G, 40 mm (1.5 inch) needle with pink colour-coded hub for quick and accurate gauge identification.
- Stainless steel cannula with advanced surface polishing, multi-bevel grinding and proprietary lubrication to reduce friction during insertion and withdrawal.
- Thin-walled construction (for this BD Microlance range) provides a larger internal lumen, supporting efficient fluid flow for injection and aspiration.
- Sterile, single-use and individually blister packed to support infection prevention and sharps safety.
- Compatible with both Luer slip adapters and Luer-lock connectors, making them suitable for a wide variety of syringes and clinical workflows.
- CE-marked, EN ISO 6009 compliant medical device from a globally recognised manufacturer (Becton Dickinson).
Indications
- Hypodermic administration of pharmaceuticals, including intramuscular, subcutaneous and intravenous injections where an 18G x 1.5" needle is clinically appropriate.
- Drawing up, transferring or reconstituting medicinal products (e.g., diluting or preparing injectable drugs or aesthetic fillers).
- Blood sampling or fluid aspiration where an 18G needle is indicated.
- Use in aesthetic medicine settings for preparation and administration of injectables by suitably trained healthcare professionals.
- General medical and clinical use requiring a sterile 18G x 40 mm hypodermic needle, as determined by local protocols.
Composition
- Cannula made from medical-grade stainless steel.
- Three-bevel precision ground needle tip with targeted surface polishing.
- Proprietary needle lubrication (e.g., silicone) to reduce insertion and withdrawal friction.
- Pink colour-coded plastic hub (Luer compatible), latex-free and PVC-free as specified for BD Microlance needles.
- Protective plastic needle cap to maintain sterility prior to use.
- Sterilised by ethylene oxide; non-pyrogenic, non-toxic; single-use device.

- Presentation: individually blister packed, sterile, single-use.
- Intended use: hypodermic administration of pharmaceuticals and related clinical procedures.
Packaging
- Typically supplied as a box of 100 BD Microlance 3 needles (18G x 1.5").
- Each needle is individually blister packed with a protective cap to maintain sterility until use.
- Outer carton labelled with product name, gauge, length, colour code, reference/SKU (304622), batch/lot number, expiry date and regulatory markings including CE mark.
- Designed for single use; packaging clearly indicates sterile, non-reusable status.
Usage
- Before use, check that the outer carton and individual blister are intact and that the product is within its expiry date; do not use if packaging is damaged or opened.
- Using aseptic technique, open the blister immediately before use and attach the needle firmly to a compatible Luer slip or Luer-lock syringe.
- Prime the needle according to local clinical protocol and perform the injection at the appropriate site, depth and angle as indicated for the medicinal product being administered.
- Do not bend the needle; if the needle becomes bent, contaminated or damaged prior to use, safely discard it and replace with a new sterile needle.
- After use, do not recap the needle unless a clearly defined local safety procedure allows a one-handed recapping technique; immediately dispose of the used needle and syringe in an approved sharps container.
- Single-use only; never reuse or share needles between patients.
Contraindications
- Do not use if the sterile blister or outer packaging is opened, damaged or past the expiry date.
- Do not reuse, re-sterilise or share needles between patients due to the risk of infection and cross-contamination.
- Not intended for intrathecal, intraocular, intra-arterial or other specialised routes of administration unless explicitly specified by clinical guidance.
- Use with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to stainless steel or any component of the device; consider alternative devices where appropriate.
- Use only by suitably trained healthcare or aesthetic practitioners familiar with injection techniques and sharps safety.
Adverse Effects
- Local injection-site reactions such as transient pain, erythema, minor bleeding, bruising or small haematoma.
- Rare risk of local infection or abscess formation if aseptic technique is not strictly followed.
- Risk of needle-stick injury to healthcare workers if sharps handling protocols are not followed.
- Very rare risk of needle bending or breakage, typically associated with incorrect use or manipulation.
- Any systemic or serious adverse effects are usually related to the injected substance, not the needle itself.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Keep in the original outer carton until use to protect from physical damage and to maintain product identification.
- Protect from excessive moisture and mechanical stress (crushing, bending).
- Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.
- Do not use beyond the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
Duration
Not applicable \u2013 this is a single-use hypodermic needle. Treatment duration is determined by the medicinal product and clinical protocol rather than the needle itself.
Onset
Not applicable \u2013 onset of effect depends on the drug or solution administered and the route of administration, not on the needle brand or size.
