3.5 V power handle spare parts / bottom section
Description
The Welch Allyn Rechargeable 3.5 V base section (SKU 71054-C) is an extra bottom section for Welch Allyn 3.5 V Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) rechargeable handles. It is a replacement or spare base section for compatible 3.5 V NiCad and convertible handles, providing the lower handle assembly and integrated charging interface used to recharge the handle when connected to mains power or an appropriate charging transformer/desk charger. This component is intended for service, repair or enhancement of existing Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad handle systems rather than as a complete power handle.
Bnefits
- Provides a genuine replacement bottom section for Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad rechargeable handles
- Extends the service life of existing diagnostic handle systems without replacing the entire handle
- Helps restore reliable charging performance when the original base section is worn or damaged
- Maintains system compatibility with Welch Allyn 3.5 V diagnostic instrument heads when used with the correct upper handle section and battery
- Supports continued use of established Welch Allyn NiCad handle systems in clinics and hospitals
- Supplied as an OEM-labeled part (71054-C) for straightforward identification in servicing and parts management
Indications
- Replacement of a damaged, worn, or non-functional bottom section on a Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad rechargeable handle
- Provision of an additional base section for facilities that need extra or spare handle bases for existing NiCad handles
- Use during scheduled maintenance or refurbishment of Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad or convertible power handles where the bottom section requires renewal
- Support of diagnostic instrument sets and desk charger systems that specify the 71054-C bottom section as a component
Composition
- Mechanical and electrical bottom section assembly for Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad rechargeable handle systems
- Metal handle base housing with integrated charging and power contacts (material consistent with Welch Allyn 3.5 V handle construction, e.g. metal body with knurled grip style when assembled as part of the full handle)
- Internal electrical components designed to interface with NiCad rechargeable batteries and compatible Welch Allyn charging solutions
- Bottom-cap components and contact interfaces appropriate for the specified handle configuration
Formulation
- Non-sterile, non-consumable mechanical/electrical spare part
- Designed as an OEM extra 3.5 V bottom section only for compatible Welch Allyn NiCad and convertible handles
- Intended to be used as part of a complete Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad handle system (upper handle section, NiCad battery, and instrument head not included)
Packaging
- Supplied as a single (each) bottom/base section component
- Packaged as an individual OEM spare part identified by part number 71054-C
- Intended for professional service, biomed and clinical engineering use rather than retail consumer packaging
Usage
- Use only with compatible Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad and convertible handles as specified in official Welch Allyn catalogues and service documentation.
- Installation and replacement should be performed by suitably trained personnel (e.g. biomedical engineers, clinical engineering staff or experienced technicians) in accordance with the handle’s service instructions.
- Before replacing the base section, ensure the handle is switched off, disconnected from any power source and that the rechargeable battery has been removed if instructed by the service manual.
- Remove the existing bottom/base section from the handle following the steps in the relevant Welch Allyn repair or service manual.
- Fit the new 71054-C base section securely, ensuring that mechanical locking and electrical contacts are correctly seated and that no components are pinched or misaligned.
- After assembly, check that the handle charges correctly using the specified Welch Allyn desk charger or charging transformer and that the instrument head illuminates as expected.
- Use only with the appropriate mains voltage and charging accessories as described for the associated handle and charger system.
- Do not modify the base section or attempt internal repair; if the component is damaged or defective, replace it with another genuine 71054-C part.
Contraindications
- Not for use with non-compatible or non-Welch Allyn handle systems or instrument heads
- Not intended for use as a stand-alone power source without the correct upper handle section and NiCad battery
- Do not use if the base section shows signs of mechanical damage, cracked housing, exposed wiring or corrosion
- Do not connect to mains supplies or chargers other than those specified for Welch Allyn 3.5 V NiCad handles and associated transformers/desk chargers
- Do not use in environments that do not meet the electrical safety and environmental conditions specified for the full handle and charger system
Adverse Effects
- Incorrect installation or use with incompatible power sources may result in handle malfunction or failure to charge
- Improper assembly or damage to the base section may increase the risk of overheating, short circuit or electrical hazard
- Use outside of the manufacturer’s voltage or charger specifications can potentially damage the NiCad battery or associated diagnostic heads
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment away from moisture and corrosive agents
- Avoid exposure to excessive heat, direct sunlight or freezing conditions that might affect the integrity of the housing or internal components
- Keep in original protective packaging until installation to prevent contamination or mechanical damage
