  • Integrated electrical contacts and housing designed to interface with the Welch Allyn Green Series Portable Headlight system
  • Pack construction designed to fit the battery compartment of the 46070 headlight/headband assembly

Formulation

  • Rechargeable NiCd diagnostic battery pack for Welch Allyn Green Series Portable Headlight model 46070 and compatible variants
  • Non-sterile, non-consumable electrical component supplied as a single-use device in terms of ownership but rechargeable throughout its service life

Packaging

  • Delivered as an OEM-labelled spare part identified by catalogue number 72270
  • Non-returnable medical battery product according to typical supplier terms

Usage

  • Use only with compatible Welch Allyn Green Series Portable Headlight systems (e.g. model 46070) as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Before replacing the battery, ensure the headlight system is switched off and disconnected from any external power supply or charger.
  • Open the designated battery compartment in the headlight or headband assembly as described in the device instructions for use.
  • Drop or slide the battery pack into the battery compartment or luminaire visor and plug into the corresponding connector, ensuring correct orientation and secure connection.
  • Close and secure the battery compartment according to the headlight’s instructions so that the pack is held firmly in place.
  • Recharge the battery using the specified Welch Allyn charger or direct power supply/charger intended for the 46070 headlight; do not use unapproved chargers.
  • Allow the battery to charge fully before first use and follow manufacturer guidance on charge cycles to optimise service life (approximately 2 years under normal use).

  • Dispose of depleted batteries via appropriate clinical or hazardous waste streams in accordance with local regulations for NiCd batteries; do not incinerate.

Contraindications

  • Not for use with non-compatible or non-Welch Allyn headlight systems or devices that do not specify use of the 72270 battery pack
  • Do not use if the battery housing is damaged, leaking or has been exposed to severe mechanical shock or liquid ingress
  • Do not attempt to open, modify or repair the battery pack
  • Do not use with chargers or power supplies other than those approved for the Welch Allyn 46070 Green Series Portable Headlight
  • Not intended for use in explosive atmospheres or environments where non-approved electrical equipment is prohibited

Adverse Effects

  • Improper use or charging with non-approved equipment may lead to overheating, leakage or reduced battery life
  • Physical damage to the battery pack may increase risk of electrolyte leakage or failure
  • In rare cases, failure of the battery may cause unexpected loss of illumination, potentially interrupting a procedure if no backup light source is available
  • Environmental harm may occur if NiCd batteries are discarded with general waste rather than via appropriate battery recycling or hazardous waste streams

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat
  • Avoid storage in environments with high humidity or condensation that could affect contacts or housing
  • Do not expose to open flame, excessive heat, or freezing conditions
  • Store away from metal objects that could short the terminals
  • Follow manufacturer recommendations for long-term storage of NiCd rechargeable batteries, including periodic charging if specified
