Resting ECG Tab Electrode

Description

Welch Allyn Resting ECG Tab Electrodes (Ref 108071) are single-use, pre-gelled Ag/AgCl tab electrodes designed for resting 12-lead ECG recording. They use a synthetic paper substrate with conductive solid adhesive gel, providing excellent adhesion, stable low-impedance signal quality, and high-quality ECG traces for up to 24 hours of continuous monitoring. Electrodes are supplied in re-sealable pouches within a case of 5000 for convenient clinical use and inventory management.

Bnefits

  • Provides excellent adhesion for reliable contact during resting ECG procedures
  • Silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) sensor and conductive adhesive gel ensure stable, high-quality ECG signal traces
  • Meets or exceeds AAMI standards for disposable pre-gelled EKG electrodes
  • Ultra-low impedance solid gel formulation helps reduce noise and artefacts
  • Pliable synthetic paper substrate conforms comfortably to the patient’s body
  • Rectangular tab design is easy to apply and remove
  • Patented traction liner prevents tabs from sliding off the liner, reducing waste and setup time
  • Packaged in convenient, re-sealable pouches to maintain electrode performance and ease of handling
  • Latex-free construction reduces risk for patients with latex sensitivity
  • Repositionable within a short period after initial placement to optimise electrode positioning

Indications

  • Single-use, short-term resting ECG (12-lead) recording in clinical or hospital settings
  • Resting ECG monitoring for up to 24 hours in adult and appropriate pediatric patients, as determined by a healthcare professional
  • Use with compatible ECG systems requiring tab-style disposable electrodes

Composition

  • Sensor element: silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl)
  • Adhesive: solid conductive adhesive gel (pre-gelled)
  • Substrate: synthetic paper material
  • Electrode style: tab, single-use, disposable
  • Latex-free construction (no natural rubber latex in contacting components)

Formulation

  • Pre-gelled, solid conductive adhesive gel on a synthetic paper tab electrode with Ag/AgCl sensor, supplied non-sterile for single use.

Packaging

  • Electrode style: tab, single-use electrode
  • Reference: 108071
  • Case quantity: 5000 electrodes per case
  • Inner packaging: 100 electrodes per pouch
  • Intermediate packaging: 5 pouches per box (500 electrodes per box)
  • Case configuration: 10 boxes per case (10 × 500 = 5000 electrodes)
  • Pouches: convenient, re-sealable packaging to maintain product condition
  • Typical case labelling: Hillrom / Welch Allyn branding with product code 108071

Usage

  • Verify that the product is within its expiry date and the pouches are intact before use.
  • Prepare the skin at each electrode site according to your facility’s ECG preparation protocol (e.g., clean and dry skin; remove oils, lotions, or heavy hair as clinically appropriate).
  • Open a re-sealable pouch and remove the required number of electrodes, keeping the remaining electrodes sealed until needed.
  • Peel an electrode from the traction liner, taking care not to touch the gel area more than necessary.
  • Apply the electrode firmly to the prepared skin site, ensuring full contact between the gel surface and the skin.
  • Attach the ECG lead wires to the electrode tabs according to the ECG system and lead placement protocol (e.g., standard 12-lead configuration).
  • Confirm signal quality on the ECG monitor or recorder; reposition or replace electrodes if traces are unstable or noisy.
  • Use each electrode for a single patient only and for no longer than 24 hours of resting ECG monitoring, or as per local clinical policy.
  • After monitoring is complete, gently remove each electrode from the skin.
  • Dispose of used electrodes and packaging as clinical waste in accordance with local regulations and institutional policy.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to silver, silver chloride, adhesive gels, or any component of the electrode.
  • Do not apply over broken, irritated, or compromised skin unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Not intended for use beyond the recommended 24-hour resting ECG application period.
  • Not intended for reuse or re-sterilisation.

Adverse Effects

  • Local skin irritation, redness, or itching at the electrode site
  • Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis) to adhesive or electrode components in susceptible individuals
  • Mild discomfort during electrode removal, particularly on sensitive skin
  • Very rare risk of skin stripping or superficial epidermal damage if removal is not performed carefully, especially in fragile skin

Storage Conditions

  • Store in original packaging in a clean, dry environment.
  • Keep pouches sealed until use to help maintain electrode performance.
  • Avoid excessive heat, cold, and direct sunlight during storage.
  • Follow storage and shelf-life information printed on the packaging; do not use after the expiry date.

Duration

Single-use disposable electrode intended for up to 24 hours of continuous resting ECG monitoring per application, or as determined by clinical judgement and institutional protocols.

Onset

Immediate upon correct skin preparation, electrode application, and connection to a compatible ECG system.
