SureBP double-tube blood pressure hose for Connex and Spot Vital Signs monitors

Description

The Welch Allyn SureBP Double-Tube Blood Pressure Hose (part number 4500-31) is a 10 ft (3.0 m) non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) hose designed to connect Welch Allyn SureBP cuffs to compatible devices such as the Connex Vital Signs Monitor, Connex Integrated Wall System and Spot Vital Signs / Spot Vital Signs LXi monitors. It is a dual-lumen, latex-free hose with dedicated connectors at each end, providing a reliable, extended-length connection between the monitor and adult or paediatric cuffs.

Bnefits

  • Provides a 10 ft (3.0 m) extended length for flexible patient positioning and easier access during blood pressure measurement.
  • SureBP double-tube design supports accurate, fast non-invasive blood pressure measurements with Welch Allyn monitors.
  • Compatible with Connex Vital Signs Monitors, Connex Integrated Wall Systems and Spot Vital Signs/Spot Vital Signs LXi devices using SureBP technology.
  • Latex-free construction reduces risk of latex-related allergic reactions for patients and clinicians.
  • Dedicated monitor and cuff connectors simplify setup and minimise risk of incorrect connections.
  • Durable medical-grade hose designed for repeated clinical use in hospitals, clinics and primary care settings.
  • Dual-lumen configuration is optimised for adult and paediatric NIBP measurements when used with appropriate Welch Allyn cuffs.
  • Standardised Welch Allyn part number (4500-31) makes replacement ordering and inventory management straightforward.

Indications

  • Use as a non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) hose to connect compatible Welch Allyn SureBP cuffs to Welch Allyn monitors.
  • Intended for adult and paediatric NIBP measurements when used with suitable cuffs and devices.
  • For use with compatible Welch Allyn Connex Vital Signs Monitors, Connex Integrated Wall Systems and Spot Vital Signs / Spot Vital Signs LXi monitors that accept the SureBP double-tube hose.
  • Use in hospitals, clinics, emergency departments, outpatient practices and other professional healthcare environments where NIBP monitoring is required.

Composition

  • Dual-lumen (double-tube) non-invasive blood pressure hose.
  • Latex-free construction (not made with natural rubber latex).
  • Medical-grade flexible tubing, typically PVC or similar polymer, suitable for repeated inflation/deflation cycles.
  • Proximal connector: dedicated Welch Allyn device-end connector compatible with Connex and Spot Vital Signs family monitors.
  • Distal connectors: dual cuff-end fittings designed to interface with Welch Allyn SureBP two-tube cuffs.
  • Internal air channels designed to withstand repeated pressurisation within the device’s specified pressure range.

Formulation

  • SureBP double-tube blood pressure hose.
  • Nominal length: 10 ft (approximately 3.0 m).
  • Designed for adult and paediatric non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.
  • Accessory component for Welch Allyn Connex and Spot Vital Signs NIBP systems.
  • Latex-free, non-sterile, reusable medical accessory.
  • Configured as a dual-lumen hose with one device-end connector and two cuff-end connectors.

Packaging

  • Supplied as a single (each) SureBP double-tube blood pressure hose.
  • Individually packaged, labelled with manufacturer, brand, and part number 4500-31.
  • May be supplied in multi-unit outer cartons for institutional purchasing.
  • Packaging includes basic identification and traceability information for clinical inventory management.

Usage

  • Before use, inspect the hose for visible damage, kinks, cracks or signs of wear. Do not use if any damage is observed.
  • Identify the device-end connector and insert it firmly into the NIBP hose port of the compatible Welch Allyn monitor until it clicks or seats securely according to the monitor’s instructions for use.
  • Attach the two cuff-end connectors to the corresponding ports on a compatible Welch Allyn SureBP double-tube cuff, ensuring secure, leak-free connections.
  • Verify that the hose is routed without sharp bends, kinks or compression points that could obstruct airflow.
  • Follow the instructions for use of the Welch Allyn monitor and cuff to position the cuff correctly on the patient and to initiate and complete NIBP measurements.
  • After use, disconnect the hose by releasing the device-end connector according to the monitor’s instructions and uncoupling the cuff-end connectors from the blood pressure cuff.
  • Clean and disinfect the hose between patients according to local infection-prevention policies and the manufacturer’s guidance for cleaning non-invasive blood pressure accessories (typically wiping with a suitable approved disinfectant; do not immerse unless explicitly permitted).
  • Do not modify the hose or fit Luer-lock or other non-approved connectors to the tubing.
  • Periodically re-inspect and replace the hose in accordance with facility policy or if any damage, stiffness, leakage or unreliable readings are observed.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if the hose is visibly damaged, cracked, kinked, leaking or does not securely connect to the monitor or cuff.
  • Do not use with non-compatible blood pressure monitors or cuffs that are not designed for Welch Allyn SureBP double-tube hoses.
  • Do not fit Luer-lock or other invasive-line connectors to the hose, to avoid risk of misconnections to intravenous lines.
  • Do not use for invasive blood pressure monitoring or any application involving direct vascular access.
  • Do not use in environments or with cleaning agents that are incompatible with the hose materials as specified by the manufacturer.

Adverse Effects

  • If misused or if the hose is kinked or compressed, the monitor may generate inaccurate blood pressure readings, potentially leading to clinical misinterpretation.
  • Misconnection of blood pressure tubing to an intravenous line (if modified or used with non-approved connectors) could cause serious patient injury from inadvertent air or fluid injection.
  • Prolonged cuff inflation due to blocked or damaged tubing could cause patient discomfort or, in extreme cases, limb injury.
  • Allergic reactions to materials are unlikely due to latex-free construction but may occur in patients with sensitivities to other polymers or cleaning agents used on the hose.

Storage Conditions

  • Store the hose in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or cold.
  • Avoid storing the hose sharply bent, twisted or under heavy objects that could permanently kink or deform the tubing.
  • Keep away from oils, solvents and harsh chemicals that could degrade the tubing material.
  • When stored attached to a monitor or wall system, ensure the hose is loosely coiled or supported to prevent strain at the connectors.
  • Follow any additional storage recommendations in the connected device’s instructions for use.

Duration

Not a therapeutic product; it is used only for the duration of each non-invasive blood pressure measurement and remains in service life-long subject to routine inspection and replacement policies.

Onset

Immediate; the hose transmits pressure changes as soon as a blood pressure measurement is initiated by the connected monitor.
