Usage
- Place the assembled stool on a level floor surface and ensure all castors move freely.
- To adjust seat height, sit or partially load the seat, then lift the all-around release ring underneath the seat to lower or raise; release the ring to lock the gas strut at the desired height.
- Set the height so that hips are approximately level with or slightly above the knees and the clinician can work with a neutral, comfortable posture.
- Use the stool only on suitable indoor floor surfaces; avoid steep ramps or uneven flooring that may compromise stability.
- Do not stand on the stool or use it as a step; it is designed only for seated use.
- Where infection-control protocols require, wipe the vinyl seat and exposed metal surfaces between patients with approved healthcare detergents/disinfectants that are compatible with the upholstery.
- Regularly inspect the seat, base, gas strut and castors for signs of wear, looseness or damage; remove from service and arrange repair or replacement if any issues are identified.
- If optional accessories (e.g. foot height control, arm support) are fitted, use them only as described in the accessory instructions and check their fixings periodically.
Contraindications
- Use by individuals whose body weight exceeds the manufacturer’s stated maximum user weight (refer to latest product literature).
- Use as a step, standing platform or for activities other than seated clinician use.
- Use on significantly uneven, sloping or unstable surfaces where the stool may roll or tip.
- Use in environments where wheeled seating is contraindicated for safety reasons without additional control measures.
Adverse Effects
- Potential for musculoskeletal strain or discomfort if seat height is not adjusted correctly or if used for prolonged periods without postural breaks.
- Risk of falls or minor injury if the stool moves unexpectedly on sloping or slippery floors.
- Entrapment or pinch risk around the gas-lift mechanism or seat underside if hands are placed incorrectly when adjusting height.
- Surface damage or marking to delicate floor coverings from castor movement if floor protection is not used where required.
Storage Conditions
- Store and use indoors in a dry, clean clinical environment at normal room temperature and humidity.
- Keep away from direct heat sources, naked flames and corrosive chemicals that may damage upholstery or metal components.
- When not in use, park the stool in a safe area to avoid blocking walkways or posing a trip hazard.
- Clean upholstery regularly with appropriate, manufacturer-compatible detergents/disinfectants and allow to dry before storage.
- Avoid stacking heavy items on the seat during storage to prevent permanent deformation of the foam.
Duration
Designed for repeated, routine clinical use and can be sat on for the full duration of consultations or procedures, typically from a few minutes up to several hours, with regular postural breaks recommended as per ergonomic guidance.
Onset
Provides immediate seating support and ergonomic height adjustment as soon as the user sits on the stool and adjusts the gas-lift to the desired height.
