Couch accessory / hand and foot switch

Description

The Linak Footswitch 3 is a six-button electric foot control designed specifically for triple motor Plinth Medical couches. It connects via a round DIN plug and allows hands-free adjustment of three powered couch functions (typically height and section movements) using LINAK actuator systems. Intended as an original spare or replacement part for compatible Plinth couches, it improves workflow, ergonomics and infection control by allowing clinicians to adjust couch position with their foot while keeping their hands free for patient care.

Bnefits

  • Six-button layout enables control of three separate motors (e.g. height and two couch sections) from one footswitch.
  • Hands-free operation improves ergonomics and efficiency during examinations and treatments.
  • Helps maintain infection control by minimising hand contact with couch controls.
  • Designed specifically to integrate with triple motor Plinth Medical couches using LINAK actuator systems.
  • Robust construction suitable for everyday clinical use.
  • Round DIN plug connection allows straightforward installation and replacement.
  • Compatible spare part simplifies maintenance and extends the life of powered couches.

Indications

  • Electric control of triple motor Plinth Medical couches in clinical, physiotherapy, podiatry, treatment or examination rooms.
  • Replacement or additional footswitch for existing Plinth couches fitted with LINAK triple motor systems.
  • Situations where hands-free adjustment of couch position is preferred or required for ergonomics or infection control.

Composition

  • Durable plastic footswitch housing.
  • Six momentary pedal switches integrated into the housing.
  • Electrical cable suitable for medical furniture applications.
  • Round DIN plug connector for LINAK/Plinth control interface.
  • Internal electronic contacts compatible with LINAK actuator control systems.

Packaging

  • Supplied as a single Linak Footswitch 3 unit with attached cable and round DIN plug.
  • Delivered in protective manufacturer or distributor packaging (e.g. boxed and padded) suitable for transport.

Usage

  • Ensure the couch is switched off and isolated from mains power before installing or replacing the footswitch, following local safety procedures.
  • Locate the appropriate round DIN control socket on the triple motor Plinth couch and firmly insert the Linak Footswitch 3 plug until fully seated.
  • Restore power to the couch and verify that all three motors respond correctly to the corresponding footswitch buttons before use with a patient.
  • Use the six buttons to adjust couch height and section positions as configured on the specific couch model, always observing patient comfort and safety.
  • Do not operate the footswitch with wet footwear or in standing water; keep the unit dry and free from spillages where possible.
  • Clean the outer surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and suitable medical-surface disinfectant; do not immerse the footswitch or cable in liquid.
  • Inspect the cable and plug periodically for damage; discontinue use and arrange replacement if the housing, cable or connector is damaged or if operation becomes unreliable.
  • Only qualified service personnel should carry out repairs, modifications or internal inspections.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for use with non-compatible couches or actuator systems that do not support the Linak Footswitch 3 interface.
  • Should not be used in environments where liquid ingress or explosive atmospheres are present unless the couch and accessories are specifically rated for such use.
  • Do not use if the cable, housing or plug is visibly damaged, or if operation is erratic, as this may pose a safety risk.

Adverse Effects

  • Incorrect installation or use with incompatible equipment could result in loss of couch control or unexpected movement.
  • Damaged cables or plugs could pose electrical hazards if the unit is not removed from service promptly.
  • Poor cable routing may create a trip hazard if not managed appropriately in the clinical environment.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a clean, dry environment when not in use.
  • Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, dust or corrosive substances.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the footswitch or cable during storage.
  • Keep within the temperature and humidity ranges recommended for the associated Plinth couch and LINAK control system.
  • Protect the DIN plug from impact and contamination by using protective caps or packaging where possible.
