Electric 2-section examination and treatment couch

Description

The Medicare 2 Section Couch, without breathing hole - Electric - Electric Back Rest is a very strong and rigid 2-section examination and treatment couch from SEERS Medical, designed for demanding clinical environments. The SM2570 configuration combines electric height elevation with an electrically operated backrest, enabling smooth, precise positioning of patients for examination and minor treatment procedures. With a safe working load and lifting capacity of 240 kg, an excellent height range from approximately 45 cm to 98 cm and high-quality Easy Clean upholstery, the couch is suitable for supporting very heavy patients while maintaining high standards of comfort, ergonomics and infection control. An anti-bacterial powder-coated frame, retractable wheel system with adjustable foot, and precision bearings on all pivot points provide long-term durability and stability, and the frame is pre-drilled to accept a wide range of optional accessories.

Bnefits

  • High-capacity medical couch with a safe working load and lifting capacity of 240 kg, suitable for very heavy patients.
  • Electric height elevation for effortless raising and lowering of the couch, improving manual handling safety for clinicians.
  • Electrically adjustable backrest (SM2570) providing smooth angle control from approximately 0° to 85–89° for optimal patient positioning.
  • Wide height range (about 45 cm to 98 cm) to facilitate low patient transfer height and efficient working height for practitioners.
  • Retractable wheel design with adjustable foot for excellent stability during use and easy manoeuvrability when required.
  • Purpose-made precision bearings on all pivot points for smooth, quiet operation and long service life.
  • Clearance beneath the frame to accommodate mobile hoists, improving access for bariatric and mobility-impaired patients.
  • Anti-bacterial powder-coated steel frame to support infection-prevention and control protocols.
  • Easy Clean upholstery system with 63 cm standard width and a choice of Standard or Standard+ upholstery colours, designed for fast, effective wipe-down cleaning.
  • Frames pre-drilled to accept a wide range of optional accessories (e.g. paper roll holders, side rails, IV poles, arm supports), allowing customisation to specific clinical needs.

Indications

  • General medical and surgical examination of adult and bariatric patients.
  • Minor treatment procedures and interventions in outpatient clinics, treatment rooms and primary care settings.
  • Use in GP surgeries, hospital outpatient departments, physiotherapy, podiatry, sports medicine and multidisciplinary clinics.
  • Aesthetic medicine and dermatology procedures that require a stable, adjustable examination/treatment couch.
  • Clinical environments where frequent patient repositioning and low transfer height are required, including elderly and mobility-impaired patients.

Composition

  • Heavy-duty steel frame with anti-bacterial powder-coated finish.
  • Two upholstered sections (backrest and main couch section) using Easy Clean, fire-retardant medical-grade vinyl upholstery over foam padding.
  • Electric height elevation system with integrated electric actuator and scissor-lift or column mechanism (model-specific).
  • Electrically powered backrest actuator enabling angle adjustment from approximately 0° to 85–89° on model SM2570.
  • Retractable wheel system incorporating lockable castors and an adjustable stabilising foot.
  • Purpose-made precision bearings at all main pivot points for smooth movement.
  • Hand switch control unit supplied as standard on electric models for height and backrest adjustments.

Formulation

  • Not applicable – this is a medical furniture/device product, not a pharmaceutical formulation.

Packaging

  • Supplied as a Medicare 2 Section Electric Couch (SM2570) configured without a breathing hole and with electric height elevation and electric backrest.
  • Couch is typically supplied fully assembled or partially assembled on a pallet or crate suitable for delivery into clinical premises, depending on distributor logistics.
  • Protective transit packaging used to prevent damage to upholstery, frame and actuators during shipment.
  • Product labelling and documentation normally include model designation (SM2570), serial number, manufacturer identification, user instructions and warranty information.

Usage

  • Install the couch in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, ensuring a level, stable floor surface and adequate clearance for full movement of the couch and attached accessories.
  • Connect the electric couch to a suitable mains power supply as specified in the user manual, ensuring that cables are routed to avoid trip hazards.
  • Before first use, carry out a functional check of height and backrest adjustment using the hand switch, verifying smooth and complete travel and correct operation of the retractable wheel and stabilising foot.
  • For patient use, adjust the couch height using the electric lift to a safe and comfortable transfer height, then raise to an appropriate working height for the clinician.
  • Adjust the electric backrest angle to the required position for examination or treatment, ensuring that the patient is supported throughout the movement.
  • Always ensure the retractable wheel system is in the ‘locked’ or stabilised position before patient loading and during examination/treatment.
  • Do not exceed the stated safe working load and lifting capacity of 240 kg, and ensure patient weight is evenly distributed on the couch surface.
  • After use, clean and disinfect all exposed frame and upholstery surfaces using approved detergent/disinfectant wipes or solutions compatible with the upholstery and coatings; follow local infection-control protocols.
  • Inspect regularly for signs of wear, damage or loose components; remove the couch from service and arrange maintenance if faults are observed.
  • Arrange periodic servicing and safety checks in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations and local medical-device maintenance policies.

Contraindications

  • Do not use with patients whose weight exceeds the specified safe working load of 240 kg.
  • Not suitable as a surgical operating table or for procedures requiring specialised positioning devices beyond the couch’s designed functionality.
  • Do not use in environments where the electrical classification or ingress protection rating of the couch is not appropriate (e.g. certain high-risk theatre or imaging zones) unless authorised by the manufacturer and local biomedical engineering.
  • Do not use if structural damage, instability, excessive wobble or malfunction of electric actuators or retractable wheels is observed.
  • Do not use the couch as a step, ladder, or as a support for equipment other than compatible accessories specified by the manufacturer.

Adverse Effects

  • Risk of patient or staff injury due to falls or entrapment if the couch is incorrectly used, overloaded or left unstable with wheels unlocked.
  • Potential musculoskeletal strain for staff if manual handling best practices are not followed when positioning patients on or off the couch.
  • Pinch or crush hazards at moving joints and scissor/actuator mechanisms if safety clearances are not respected during operation.
  • Electrical hazards if the power cable, plug or actuators are damaged or if the product is used with an inappropriate power supply or in a wet environment contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Infection risk if upholstery and frame are not cleaned and disinfected adequately between patients.

Storage Conditions

  • Install and operate in a dry, indoor clinical environment within the temperature and humidity range specified by the manufacturer (typical room conditions).
  • Keep away from direct heat sources, open flames and excessive moisture that could damage electrical components or upholstery.
  • Ensure that the mains cable is protected from crushing, sharp edges and liquids, and that plugs and sockets remain clean and intact.
  • When not in use for prolonged periods, disconnect from mains power and leave the couch at a mid-height position to reduce sustained load on actuators.
  • Clean regularly with approved detergents and disinfectants, avoiding harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners that could damage the upholstery or powder-coated surfaces.

Duration

Not directly applicable; the couch provides support during examinations and minor treatment procedures, which vary in duration according to clinical need.

Onset

Immediate functional effect once installed and powered; height and backrest adjustments respond instantly to hand switch operation.
