Ceiling-mounted LED examination light replacement head
Description
The Replacement Head for DARAY X400 LED Ceiling Mounted Examination Light (SKU: X400LC) is a factory-specified spare light-head assembly for the DARAY X400 ceiling-mounted LED examination light system. It includes the complete LED light head with integrated optics, LED array and controls, but excludes the ceiling arm, mounting system and power supply, which are reused from the existing installation. The X400 LED light-head is a premium quality examination light designed for general medical diagnosis and procedures, providing a large, uniform light patch with high-intensity illumination and variable brightness. Featuring NviroLED™ technology with a 7-LED array, a colour temperature of approximately 4,300 K and a high colour rendering index (CRI ~95, R9 ~88), the X400 head delivers excellent tissue colour rendition with no infrared radiation in the light field. The fully enclosed, smooth light-head design, with BioProtect antimicrobial coating on painted surfaces (on the full product), supports infection control and is suitable for use in a wide range of clinical environments when installed and serviced according to DARAY’s instructions.
Bnefits
- Official replacement head assembly for the DARAY X400 LED ceiling mounted examination light (SKU X400LC), ensuring full compatibility with existing ceiling arms and power systems.
- Delivers high-intensity LED illumination (around 120,000 lux at 0.5 m and approximately 40,000 lux at 1.0 m, depending on configuration) for general examination and minor procedures.
- 7-LED NviroLED™ array with colour temperature around 4,300 K provides bright, natural white light and excellent colour rendition (CRI ~95, R9 ~88) for accurate tissue assessment.
- Variable intensity control (approximately 5–100%) via single-handed controls next to the light head, allowing quick adjustment during procedures.
- Long LED working life (typically >50,000 hours) minimises downtime and replacement intervals compared with halogen-based systems.
- LED technology offers low power consumption (around 16 W) and reduced running costs over the lifetime of the product.
- Fully enclosed, smooth light-head design supports infection control and easy wipe-down cleaning.
- Emits no infrared radiation in the light field, so it does not appreciably increase temperature in the illuminated area, improving patient comfort.
- Maintains the performance and functionality of the existing X400 ceiling-mounted system without requiring full fixture replacement.
Indications
- Replacement of a damaged, non-functional or end-of-life light-head on an installed DARAY X400 LED ceiling mounted examination light.
- Restoration of designed illumination performance (intensity, uniformity, colour temperature) of the X400 ceiling-mounted examination light in clinics, GP surgeries, treatment rooms and minor procedure areas.
- Use in general medical examination and diagnostic procedures requiring high-quality, shadow-managed lighting when mounted on a compatible DARAY X400 ceiling system.

Packaging
- Supplied as a single DARAY X400 LED replacement light-head assembly (head only, without ceiling arm, column, mount or external power components).
- Typically packaged in protective manufacturer carton with custom foam or padding to protect the head during transport and storage.
- Outer packaging and labels include DARAY branding, product description, model/variant (X400 LED ceiling mount replacement head, X400LC), serial/lot numbers and basic handling instructions.
- Image used in distributor listings is for illustration purposes only and may show the complete ceiling-mounted light rather than the head-only configuration.
Usage
- Installation and replacement of the X400LC replacement head must be carried out only by suitably qualified personnel, such as a biomedical engineer or authorised service technician, in accordance with DARAY’s installation and service manuals.
- Before any work, isolate the ceiling-mounted X400 light from mains power at the supply point and confirm that the system is de-energised.
- Remove the existing X400 light-head from the ceiling arm following DARAY’s instructions, supporting the head to prevent mechanical strain or accidental drops.
- Disconnect the electrical connector(s) between the existing head and the arm/power supply assembly, noting orientation and cable routing.
- Connect the new replacement head to the ceiling arm using the correct electrical connectors and secure all mechanical fixings as specified by DARAY.
- Check that the head articulates smoothly, that all fixings are secure and that cables are not pinched or strained through the range of motion.
- Restore mains power and verify correct operation: check on/off switching, light intensity adjustment from minimum to maximum, and light-field uniformity at the working distance.
- After installation, clean and disinfect the light-head according to local infection control procedures and DARAY cleaning guidelines (typically wipe with approved detergent/disinfectant solutions; avoid harsh solvents or abrasive materials).
- Do not attempt to open the light-head or access the internal LED or driver components; the head is not user-serviceable beyond normal cleaning and exterior inspection.
- For any operational issues (e.g., flickering, failure to light, unusual noise or odour), remove the light from service and contact DARAY or an authorised service provider.
Contraindications
- Do not install this replacement head on non-DARAY or non-X400 ceiling mounting systems; it is designed specifically for compatible DARAY X400 ceiling-mounted examination light installations.
- Not intended for use in environments requiring explosion-proof or intrinsically safe lighting unless the complete system is certified for such use.
- Do not operate the light if the head or housing appears damaged, cracked or has exposed internal components.
- Do not modify the light-head, LEDs or internal wiring; unauthorised modification can compromise safety, performance and regulatory compliance.
- If used in sterile or critical clinical environments, follow facility and manufacturer requirements for cleaning, disinfection and routine inspection; damaged coatings or surfaces should prompt evaluation and potential replacement.
Adverse Effects
- When used as intended, no direct patient adverse effects are expected; the head produces visible light only and no infrared in the light field.
- Excessive brightness or prolonged direct viewing of the light source at close range may cause temporary visual discomfort or glare to staff or patients.
- If the light-head is incorrectly installed or mechanically unsecured, there is a risk of mechanical failure or dropping, which could result in equipment damage or injury.
- Electrical faults (e.g., improper wiring or damaged cables) could, in rare cases, pose a risk of electric shock or fire; such risks are mitigated by proper installation, routine inspection and adherence to manufacturer instructions.
- Surface damage or deterioration may make effective cleaning more difficult, potentially impacting infection control if not identified and corrected.
Storage Conditions
- Store the replacement head in its original protective packaging until installation to prevent dust, contamination and mechanical damage.
- Keep in a clean, dry indoor environment, protected from moisture, condensation, corrosive atmospheres and direct sunlight.
- Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures; storage within typical room temperature ranges (approximately 5–35°C) is generally recommended unless otherwise specified by DARAY.
- Do not stack heavy objects on top of the packaged light-head or subject it to excessive vibration or impact.
- If long-term storage is required before installation, periodically inspect the packaging and ensure the environment remains within recommended conditions.
