Treatment couch breathing hole plug
Description
The Breathing Hole Plug For All Couches is a factory-style plug designed to fit the face/breathing hole cut-out on Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical treatment couches. It is used to fill and cover the breathing aperture when prone treatments are not required, restoring a continuous flat surface and maintaining the couch’s appearance and comfort. The plug is shaped to match the standard Plinth breathing hole and is finished to coordinate with the couch upholstery, providing a simple, dedicated accessory for clinics that use Plinth 2000 and other Plinth Medical couches with an integrated breathing hole.
Bnefits
- Specifically designed to fit breathing holes on Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical couches, ensuring correct compatibility.
- Fills the breathing/face hole to create a flat lying surface when prone treatments are not required.
- Helps maintain patient comfort by removing the opening under the head or chest during supine or other non-prone positions.
- Dedicated accessory from the same manufacturer as the couches, supporting a consistent look and fit.
- Simple to insert and remove, allowing quick changeover between patients and treatment types.
Indications
- Use with Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical couches that have an integrated breathing or face hole cut-out.
- Situations where the couch is used for supine, side-lying or seated treatments and the breathing hole needs to be closed.
- Clinical environments such as physiotherapy, musculoskeletal clinics, GP surgeries and treatment rooms using compatible Plinth couches.
Composition
- Upholstered plug manufactured to match the shape of the Plinth breathing/face hole cut-out.
- Internal cushioning core designed to provide a level and comfortable surface when placed in the cut-out.
- Outer finish coordinated with Plinth couch upholstery range to blend with the couch surface.
Formulation
- Removable, non-powered plug accessory for treatment couches.
- Sized and shaped to fit standard breathing/face holes in Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical couches.
- Finished to align with the appearance of compatible Plinth couches.
Packaging
- Supplied as a single breathing hole plug accessory.
- Packed for shipment with protective wrapping to prevent damage to the upholstery and edges.
- Labelled with product description, brand (Plinth Medical) and compatibility information (for Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical couches).
Usage
- Identify the breathing/face hole cut-out on the compatible Plinth 2000 or Plinth Medical couch.
- Align the plug with the opening so that its edges correspond to the shape of the cut-out.
- Gently press the plug into the breathing hole until it sits flush with the couch surface and is stable in position.
- Verify that the surface is level before asking the patient to lie on the area covering the plug.
- When a prone position with face support is required, remove the plug carefully from the breathing hole and store it in a safe place until needed again.
- Clean and disinfect the plug’s surface routinely in line with local infection control policies and the cleaning instructions used for the matching couch upholstery.
Contraindications
- Do not use with treatment couches other than compatible Plinth 2000 and Plinth Medical models with matching breathing hole dimensions.
- Do not use if the plug or couch breathing hole is visibly damaged, misshapen or unable to seat securely and flush with the surface.
- Not suitable as a weight-bearing step or support; it is intended only as a surface infill for a correctly supported breathing hole.
- Use with caution for patients with significant instability or balance issues; ensure the plug is correctly seated and the couch is used according to manufacturer guidance.
Adverse Effects
- If not seated correctly, the plug could create an uneven surface that may cause minor discomfort for the patient.
- Incorrect use (e.g., using a damaged plug or on an incompatible couch) may lead to instability of the lying surface.
- Inadequate cleaning and disinfection could contribute to cross-contamination, as with any upholstered couch surface.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry clinical environment when not in use, preferably on or near the associated couch so it is not misplaced.
- Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects on top of the plug to prevent deformation or damage to the cushioning and upholstery.
- Keep away from direct heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight that might affect upholstery appearance or integrity.
- Clean and dry thoroughly after disinfection before long-term storage.
