Description

Classic Height Adjustable Armrests For Operators Chair (1004) are a pair of optional, height-adjustable armrests manufactured by Plinth Medical for use with the Plinth Standard and Classic Operators Chairs, including Model 1004. Supplied as a matching pair, these classic armrests feature five height settings and soft PU arm pads to provide comfortable forearm support and improved ergonomics for clinicians during examinations and procedures. They are designed to mount securely to compatible Plinth operator chairs and stools, allowing users to add or upgrade arm support to existing seating in healthcare environments.

Bnefits

  • Provides comfortable forearm and elbow support for clinicians using Plinth operator chairs, helping to reduce fatigue during prolonged sitting.
  • Five-height adjustment mechanism allows users to set armrests at an ergonomically appropriate level for different body sizes and working positions.
  • Classic design with PU arm pads offers a balance of comfort, durability and easy wipe-clean maintenance suitable for clinical settings.
  • Designed as an official Plinth Medical accessory, ensuring compatibility with specified Plinth operator and classic chair models (including Model 1004 and similar chairs).
  • Retrofittable accessory allows existing chairs to be upgraded with armrests rather than replacing the entire chair.
  • Robust construction suitable for busy healthcare environments such as clinics, hospitals, dental surgeries and therapy rooms.

Indications

  • Optional accessory for Plinth Medical operator and classic chairs, including Model 1004 Standard Operators Chair – High Version and other compatible Plinth seating solutions.
  • Intended to provide adjustable arm support for clinicians and staff performing examinations, diagnostic procedures or administrative tasks while seated.
  • Suitable for use in healthcare environments including hospitals, clinics, GP and dental surgeries, physiotherapy departments and other medical or laboratory settings.
  • Particularly useful where additional upper limb support is desired to promote ergonomic working posture and comfort during longer procedures.

Composition

  • Structural components: Metal arm support frames (typically steel or similar robust metal) designed to fix to the chair base/seat structure.
  • Arm pads: Polyurethane (PU) arm pads providing a firm yet comfortable, wipe-clean support surface.
  • Adjustment hardware: Metal height-adjustment mechanism with detent settings (5 height positions) and appropriate fasteners/fixings for attachment to compatible chairs.
  • Finish: Durable coated metal frame (colour typically black or similar neutral tone) suitable for healthcare environments.

Formulation

  • Supplied as a classic-style height-adjustable armrest set (pair) for Plinth operator chairs.
  • Five discrete height settings with PU arm pads as described in Plinth Medical’s Healthcare Seating Solutions documentation under Model 1119 Classic Adjustable Height Armrests.
  • Designed to clamp or bolt to compatible Plinth chair bases or seat frames (e.g. Standard and Classic Operators Chairs, including Model 1004).
  • Intended for professional clinical use as an accessory to seating, not as a stand-alone seating device.

Packaging

  • Typically supplied as a pair of armrests (left and right) in a single carton.
  • Pack includes armrest assemblies and necessary mounting hardware/fixings for compatible Plinth chairs (exact fixings may vary by chair model).
  • Packaged in protective wrapping and outer cardboard carton suitable for courier shipment.
  • Product labelling/dispatch documentation normally identifies product name, brand (Plinth Medical), SKU (PL1119) and, where applicable, compatible chair models.

Usage

  • Installation should be carried out by a competent person familiar with assembling and adjusting clinical seating, following any installation instructions supplied by Plinth Medical.
  • Ensure the operator chair is stable and on a level surface before fitting the armrests. If necessary, remove any existing components that obstruct armrest mounting as per chair instructions.
  • Securely attach each armrest to the designated mounting points on the chair base/seat frame using the supplied fixings. Tighten fixings fully and check that the armrests are firmly attached and free from excessive movement.
  • Adjust each armrest to the desired height using the height adjustment mechanism (5 available positions), ensuring both sides are set at matching heights for ergonomic support.
  • Before clinical use, check that the armrests do not interfere with chair operation (seat height adjustments, rotation, foot ring use, etc.) and that they do not impede access to patients or equipment according to local working practices.
  • Clean arm pads and exposed surfaces regularly using appropriate detergent or disinfectant wipes compatible with PU and coated metal surfaces, following local infection control policies.
  • Do not use the armrests for standing, climbing, lifting, or patient transfer; they are designed solely to support the clinician’s forearms while seated.
  • Periodically inspect all fixings, joints and pads for wear, loosening or damage. Retighten or replace components as necessary and remove the chair from service if the armrests become unsafe.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for use on non-compatible chairs or stools that do not have appropriate mounting points or structural strength to support armrests.
  • Not designed or approved for supporting patient weight, standing, leaning heavily, or assisting with patient transfers or mobilisation.
  • Individuals with specific ergonomic or musculoskeletal conditions should seek professional ergonomic assessment before relying on arm supports.
  • Should not be used if any structural damage, instability or excessive movement in the armrests, brackets or chair is observed.
  • Not appropriate as a restraint device; must not be used to restrict patient or user movement.

Adverse Effects

  • Improper installation or loose fixings may lead to armrest instability, posing a risk of minor injury (e.g. sudden movement or collapse when leaned upon).
  • Incorrect height adjustment or poor ergonomic setup may contribute to discomfort in shoulders, neck or upper limbs over time.
  • Pinch points around the height-adjustment mechanism or mounting areas could cause minor pinching if fingers are placed incorrectly during adjustment.
  • If cleaning with harsh or incompatible chemicals, surface degradation or cracking of PU pads may occur, potentially leading to rough edges or reduced cleanability.

Storage Conditions

  • When installed, the armrests should be kept in a normal indoor clinical environment, away from excessive moisture, corrosive chemicals and extreme temperatures.
  • If stored separately (not installed on a chair), keep in a clean, dry area, ideally in the original packaging to protect from dust and damage.
  • Avoid stacking heavy items on top of the armrests or subjecting them to impact that could bend the frames or damage the PU pads.
  • Clean and dry thoroughly before long-term storage to minimise risk of corrosion or material degradation.

Duration

Not applicable. This is a non-medical chair accessory intended for long-term use for the lifecycle of the compatible operator chair, subject to regular inspection, maintenance and replacement if worn or damaged.

Onset

Immediate ergonomic and comfort benefits are provided once the armrests are correctly installed and adjusted for the user\u2019s preferred working position.
