Electric mobile podiatry treatment chair

Description

The Mobile Podiatry Chair – Model 94CDT is a dual-column, electrically operated platinum-range podiatry chair designed and manufactured by Plinth Medical specifically for podiatry and lower-limb procedures. It features vertical lifting to minimise space requirements and provides simple hand-switch control of height, two-way (Trendelenburg) tilt, backrest and independent leg section angles. With a safe working load of 250 kg, large twin 125 mm castors, battery back-up, electric CPR and pre-set recovery/Return-to-Zero (RTZ) positions, the chair is engineered to support safe patient handling and flexible clinical positioning. Deep, contoured pressure-relieving upholstery in Multistretch antimicrobial vinyl, wide self-levelling armrests and an optional extending headrest provide high levels of comfort and support for podiatry, chiropody and related outpatient treatments.

Bnefits

  • Designed and developed specifically for podiatry procedures, optimised for lower-limb access and patient positioning.
  • Electric dual column vertical lift minimises required floor space and improves stability compared with scissor-lift designs.
  • Full electric profiling of height, backrest, leg sections and two-way tilt reduces manual handling demands on clinicians.
  • Wide operating height range (approx. 52–102 cm) to facilitate safe patient transfer and comfortable working postures.
  • Safe working load of 250 kg (550 lb / 39 st), suitable for a broad range of patient body weights.
  • Two-way electric Trendelenburg tilt from approximately +20° to –20° for improved circulatory management and positioning.
  • Pre-set electric CPR, Recovery and Return-to-Zero (RTZ) positions for rapid repositioning in emergencies and at session end.
  • Battery back-up facility maintains chair function during mains power failure, supporting continuity of care.
  • Large 125 mm twin castors with central locking and steering for excellent mobility and secure braking when in use.
  • Wide, fully supporting armrests with self-levelling adjustment enhance patient comfort in seated and reclined positions.
  • Optional extending headrest (extends approx. 14 cm) and matching head cushion to accommodate taller patients.
  • Deep contoured pressure-relieving foam with Multistretch antimicrobial vinyl for comfort, durability and infection control.
  • Hoist clearance of approximately 13 cm beneath the frame to accommodate standard mobile hoists.
  • Lifetime frame and 5-year parts guarantee, reflecting robust construction and long expected service life.

Indications

  • Use in podiatry and chiropody clinics for routine foot care, nail surgery and other lower-limb procedures.
  • Outpatient community or hospital settings requiring a mobile, fully electric treatment chair with podiatry-optimised access.
  • Multidisciplinary clinics where flexible seated, semi-reclined or reclined positioning is required for lower-limb examination and treatment.
  • Situations where bariatric-capable (up to 250 kg) seating with secure positioning and emergency CPR functionality is required.
  • Clinical environments needing rapid electric repositioning to recovery or CPR positions in the event of an emergency during treatment.

Composition

  • Dual electric column lift system forming the primary support structure and providing vertical lifting.
  • Rigid steel frame and base assembly engineered to a safe working load of 250 kg.
  • Large 125 mm twin castors with central locking and steering facility.
  • Electric actuators/motors for height, backrest, leg sections and two-way tilt functions.
  • Hand-switch control unit for all powered movements, including CPR, Recovery and Return-to-Zero (RTZ) presets.
  • Rechargeable battery system providing back-up power in the event of mains failure.
  • Deep contoured pressure-relieving foam in seat, backrest and leg sections.
  • Multistretch antimicrobial vinyl upholstery over all patient-contact surfaces.
  • Wide, fully supporting, self-levelling patient armrests with angle adjustment.
  • Optional extending headrest with ratchet mechanism and compatible head cushion (accessory).

Formulation

  • Dual column, vertical-lift mobile podiatry chair with electric profiling.
  • Electric operation of height (approx. 52–102 cm), backrest angle, each leg section angle and two-way tilt (approx. +20° to –20° Trendelenburg).
  • Backrest adjustable from horizontal to approximately +80°.
  • Leg sections adjustable from horizontal to approximately –90°.
  • Pre-set electric CPR, Recovery and Return-to-Zero (RTZ) positions activated via hand-switch.
  • Battery back-up integrated into the chair’s electrical system for emergency use.
  • Hoist clearance beneath frame of approximately 13 cm (5”).
  • Approximate overall dimensions (L × W × H): 157–185 cm × 63 cm × 50–90 cm (62–63" × 25" × 20–35").

Packaging

  • Supplied as a fully assembled or partially assembled medical furniture unit (depending on distributor logistics and delivery arrangements).
  • Typically delivered on a pallet or dedicated transport packaging to protect the frame, upholstery and electric columns in transit.
  • Accompanied by user/installation instructions, warranty information and maintenance guidance from Plinth Medical.
  • Colour options within the Platinum range upholstery palette (e.g. Blueberry, Caviar, Chocolate, Juniper, Merlot, Mint, Raspberry, Rosemary, Vanilla) available to order via distributors.

Usage

  • Install and commission the chair according to the manufacturer’s user manual and any local electrical and safety requirements.
  • Before clinical use, ensure all castors are locked using the central locking system and verify chair stability.
  • Connect to mains power as specified; ensure the battery back-up is charged according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Use the hand-switch controls to adjust chair height, backrest, leg sections and tilt to achieve the desired patient position, observing safe moving and handling techniques.
  • For Trendelenburg or reverse Trendelenburg positions, use the dedicated tilt controls (approx. +20° to –20°) and monitor patient comfort and tolerance.
  • In an emergency requiring CPR, activate the electric CPR function on the hand-switch to move the chair rapidly into the pre-set CPR position.
  • At the end of treatment, use the RTZ (Return-to-Zero) function to bring the chair back to its standard, neutral starting position.
  • Adjust armrests and optional extending headrest to support the patient appropriately, ensuring no limbs are trapped during movement.
  • Clean and disinfect upholstery and touch surfaces between patients using compatible detergents/disinfectants in line with infection-prevention protocols and vinyl manufacturer guidance.
  • Undertake regular inspection and preventative maintenance as recommended by Plinth Medical, including checks on electrical cables, actuators, castors, upholstery and safety functions.
  • Do not exceed the stated safe working load of 250 kg and do not modify the chair or its controls without manufacturer approval.

Contraindications

  • Use with patients whose body weight exceeds the safe working load of 250 kg.
  • Use in environments that do not allow safe locking of castors or stable placement of the chair.
  • Use in explosive atmospheres or where equipment not rated for such environments is prohibited.
  • Use without appropriate staff training in electric profiling chairs, CPR positioning and safe patient moving and handling.
  • Clinical use where the patient’s medical condition does not permit Trendelenburg or reverse Trendelenburg positioning unless under explicit medical instruction.
  • Use with incompatible cleaning or disinfectant chemicals that may damage the Multistretch antimicrobial vinyl or foam structure.

Adverse Effects

  • If moving and handling guidelines are not followed, there is a risk of musculoskeletal strain to staff during patient transfer or chair adjustment.
  • Improper positioning or failure to secure castors could result in chair movement, increasing the risk of patient falls or injury.
  • Incorrect use of tilt or section settings may cause patient discomfort, dizziness or intolerance to certain positions (e.g. Trendelenburg) in susceptible individuals.
  • Use of aggressive or incompatible cleaning agents may degrade upholstery, increasing the risk of tearing or fluid ingress over time.
  • Electrical faults or lack of maintenance could, in rare cases, lead to malfunction of height or position controls, necessitating prompt service.

Storage Conditions

  • Store and operate the chair in a dry, indoor clinical environment within the temperature and humidity ranges specified by the manufacturer.
  • Keep the power cable routed safely to avoid trip hazards or damage to the cable and plug.
  • When not in use for extended periods, disconnect from mains power according to the manufacturer’s instructions and ensure the chair is left in a safe, low position with castors locked.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure of upholstery to direct sunlight or strong heat sources to minimise fading and material degradation.
  • Do not store heavy items on the chair or use it as a general trolley; use only for patient support as intended.

Duration

Not applicable \u2013 this is a reusable medical furniture device used during clinical sessions; duration of patient use is determined by the specific podiatry or treatment procedure.

Onset

Not applicable in a pharmacological sense; electric height, tilt and section adjustments respond immediately to hand-switch input within the mechanical speed limits of the actuators.
