The Reclining Phlebotomy Chair from Plinth Medical (model 113B/113BW, often listed as H1280) is a manually adjustable, fixed-height phlebotomy chair designed for safe and comfortable blood-taking procedures. It features a synchronised head and leg rest that allows quick adjustment from an upright position to a horizontal recovery/Trendelenburg position if a patient feels faint. The chair is built on a powder-coated steel frame with 3\ comfort foam and hard-wearing, anti-microbial, fire-retardant vinyl upholstery. Standard equipment includes a pair of height-adjustable, removable phlebotomy armrests, twin locking castors (with optional fixed feet) and a safe working load of 250 kg. Typical seat dimensions are seat height 520 mm, seat depth 500 mm and seat width 630 mm, with overall couch dimensions approximately 176 cm long, 63 cm wide and 52 cm high. Usage
- Position the chair on a level surface and, if supplied with castors, engage the twin locking castors before seating a patient.
- Adjust or configure fixed feet or castors according to local policy and manufacturer guidance to ensure appropriate stability and mobility.
- Before seating the patient, set the chair backrest and leg rest to an appropriate starting position using the manual adjustment controls.
- Seat the patient centrally on the chair, ensuring their back is supported and feet are comfortably placed.
- Adjust the phlebotomy armrest height and position so the patient’s arm is comfortably supported with good access to the venepuncture site; lock armrests in place.
- During the procedure, monitor the patient for signs of dizziness or faintness; if needed, use the synchronised adjustment to recline the back and raise the legs quickly to a recovery position.
- After use, return the chair to the upright position, remove disposable coverings and clean all contact surfaces with an appropriate detergent/disinfectant according to infection prevention protocols.
- Routinely inspect armrest fixings, upholstery, castors or feet and frame for signs of wear or damage; remove from service and arrange repair if faults are identified.
- Do not exceed the safe working load of 250 kg and do not modify the chair or its safety mechanisms.
Contraindications
- Do not use for patients whose weight exceeds the stated safe working load (250 kg).
- Not suitable as a transport chair or wheelchair; the product is intended for static use during procedures only.
- Not designed for use in imaging suites or theatres where radiolucent or specialised operating tables are required.
- Use with caution in patients with severe mobility limitations, postural instability or conditions requiring specialised positioning; additional support or alternative equipment may be necessary.
- Do not use if the frame, armrests, castors or reclining mechanism are damaged or not functioning correctly.
