Fine suture instrument pack (Plus)

Description

Instrapac Fine Suture Pack Plus is a single-use, sterile procedure pack containing high-quality fine suture instruments suitable for a wide variety of delicate suturing procedures. All instruments are manufactured from medical grade surgical stainless steel and are supplied in an easy-to-open, sterile pack with contents wrapped in a sterile field. The pack includes a kilner needle holder, iris stitch scissors, toothed and non-toothed iris forceps, non-woven swabs, dressing towels and a polypropylene tray with integral pots. It provides a lower-cost alternative to reprocessing reusable instruments while protecting patients against cross-infection risks and maintaining full compliance with the Medical Devices Directive.

Usage

Visually inspect the outer pack before use; do not use if the packaging is damaged, opened or wet.
Check expiry date and product details in line with local protocols.
Open the pack using aseptic technique, presenting the sterile field and tray contents without compromising sterility.
Using appropriate sterile gloves and aseptic technique, remove the instruments (kilner needle holder, iris scissors and forceps) and consumables as required for suturing.
Use the kilner needle holder for holding and driving the suture needle, and the iris stitch scissors for precise cutting of sutures.
Use toothed and non-toothed iris forceps to handle tissue and assist accurate placement of sutures as per clinical judgement.
Utilise non-woven swabs and dressing towels to maintain a clean, dry operative field and absorb exudate.
After completion of the procedure, discard all instruments, tray, pots, swabs and other pack components as clinical waste according to local policy.
Do not clean, re-sterilise or reuse any component of the pack; the pack is strictly single use.

Contraindications

Do not use if the sterile barrier system (packaging) is damaged, open or shows signs of compromised sterility.
Do not reuse or reprocess any component; reuse may lead to infection, corrosion or mechanical failure of instruments.
Not intended for use on procedures requiring heavy-duty instruments or cutting of very tough tissues beyond the design of fine suture instruments.
Do not use if instruments appear bent, damaged, corroded or otherwise defective on visual inspection.
Not suitable for use beyond the expiry date indicated on the pack.

Adverse Effects

Risk of tissue trauma or skin injury if instruments are used improperly or without appropriate clinical technique.
Potential for infection if the sterile field is compromised or if pack is used after packaging damage or expiry.
User injury (e.g. needle stick or cuts) if safe sharps handling procedures are not followed.
Mechanical failure such as loosening, misalignment or dullness of instruments if misused, potentially affecting suture quality.

Storage Conditions

Store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture.
Keep in original packaging until point of use to maintain sterility.
Avoid stacking or compressing packs in a way that could damage the sterile barrier system.
Follow any additional storage guidance provided on the outer packaging or by local policy.
